Burgess has completed the sale of the 37m Perini Navi sailing yacht NORFOLK STAR, representing the seller in the transaction.
Burgess has announced the sale of the 37-metre Perini Navi sailing yacht NORFOLK STAR, with the brokerage representing the seller. The transaction closes the latest chapter for a pedigree Italian sailing yacht that underwent a multi-million-euro refit in 2020 before returning to the brokerage market in upgraded condition.
Built by Perini Navi, NORFOLK STAR belongs to a generation of large sailing yachts that helped establish the Italian yard’s reputation for combining substantial interior volume with serious cruising capability. The 37-metre length places her in a part of the sailing-yacht market where owner operation gives way to a fully crewed superyacht experience.
That pedigree remains relevant on the resale market because buyers can evaluate an established design, construction history and operational record rather than taking on the uncertainties of a new custom project. For mature sailing yachts, the quality of ongoing care can be just as important as the original build specification.
Burgess says NORFOLK STAR underwent a multi-million-euro refit in 2020, bringing the yacht to market in what the brokerage described as exceptional condition. Major refit investment can be particularly significant for sailing yachts, where rigging, machinery, systems, paint, interiors and deck equipment all contribute to both operating reliability and resale value.
For a buyer, recent documented work can reduce the amount of immediate capital expenditure required after purchase. It can also make survey findings easier to assess because significant systems have already been reviewed, renewed or upgraded as part of a structured refit programme.
Large sailing yachts represent a smaller and more specialised brokerage market than motor yachts, but recognised builders and well-maintained examples continue to attract experienced buyers. The sale of NORFOLK STAR reinforces the value placed on proven platforms that combine classic sailing character with the comfort expected from a modern superyacht.
Transactions in this segment can take longer because the buyer pool is narrower and more technically focused. When a sale completes, the condition, refit history and builder reputation often play a larger role than headline age alone.
Burgess has not disclosed the final sale price or buyer representation in its announcement, but confirmed that it acted for the seller. The brokerage thanked the parties involved and said it wished the new owners many years of enjoyment aboard the yacht.
For Superyacht Guide readers, the sale is another indicator that well-presented sailing yachts with strong yard pedigree and recent investment remain liquid. NORFOLK STAR’s 2020 refit gave the transaction a clear ownership story: established design, substantial technical upkeep and a completed change of ownership.
