Royal Yacht International has sold the first 40.6m Benetti B.Neos, with CEO Manuele Thiella representing the buyer. The hybrid yacht is scheduled for delivery in spring 2028.
Royal Yacht International has announced the sale of the first 40.6-metre Benetti B.Neos, with delivery scheduled for spring 2028. The Monaco brokerage says its CEO, Manuele Thiella, represented the buyer in the transaction, making Hull #1 the first sold example of Benetti's new hybrid-led 40-metre platform.
The sale moves B.Neos from design proposition to a contracted yacht with a defined delivery window. No sale price has been disclosed, but the transaction gives the programme an important commercial milestone after Benetti Yachts developed the model around a quieter, lower-emission operating profile and a layout intended to bring owners and guests physically closer to the water.
Benetti positions B.Neos as a 40-metre displacement yacht rather than a conventional fast-planing platform, with the design carrying 296 GT of internal volume. The builder's concept combines motor-yacht comfort with proportions influenced by sailing yachts, while Royal Yacht International's sale announcement confirms that the first hull is now allocated to an owner and is expected to complete in spring 2028.
The model was developed with exterior design by Malcolm McKeon Yacht Design and interiors by FM Architettura. Benetti describes the project as deliberately restrained in profile and atmosphere, with the design team prioritising usable spaces, natural light and a less formal way of living aboard rather than relying on scale or decoration alone.
For Superyacht Guide, the significance of the announcement is therefore not simply that another Benetti has changed hands before delivery. B.Neos was introduced as a new technical and lifestyle direction for the yard, so the sale of Hull #1 provides the first direct evidence that an owner has committed to that package of hybrid propulsion, low-profile styling and unconventional interior planning.
Benetti says the propulsion architecture is based on twin MAN V8-800 engines integrated into the yacht's hybrid system. The operating strategy is designed around several modes, including Zero-Emission, Hotel, Diesel-Electric, Crossover and Boost, allowing the yacht to change the way propulsion and hotel loads are supplied according to whether she is manoeuvring, cruising, at anchor or operating quietly close to shore.
In battery-supported Zero-Emission operation, propulsion and onboard hotel systems can run without the main engines operating, reducing exhaust emissions, vibration and machinery noise at the point of use. Royal Yacht International says the system can reduce fuel consumption by up to 30 percent against a similarly sized yacht in the typical weekend-use scenario used in the B.Neos brochure, while Benetti separately describes a 30 percent reduction in energy consumption compared with a vessel of comparable size.
Those figures are manufacturer and broker claims rather than independently measured fleet data, but the architecture itself is central to the yacht rather than an optional upgrade. Benetti says designing the hybrid arrangement into the platform from the outset also allows a more compact engine room, which in turn releases additional space for guest areas and helps lower the aft spaces closer to sea level.
One of the most distinctive areas is the Sea Atrium, which replaces the conventional beach-club treatment with a lower waterfront living space linked directly to the exterior. Royal Yacht International describes a 2.4-metre ceiling height, full-height glazing and a 72-square-metre waterfront terrace, creating an aft zone intended to function as a primary social area rather than a secondary technical space at the stern.
The owner arrangement also departs from the usual single-suite formula by dedicating the upper-deck level to a more private owner environment. This separation is intended to create a residential feel with greater privacy, while the rest of the yacht is organised so guest and family spaces can remain open and informal rather than being divided into a sequence of ceremonial rooms.
That approach continues with the Family Kitchen, where the conventional formal dining room is replaced by a social space connected directly to the galley. Benetti and Royal Yacht International present the arrangement as suitable for everyday breakfast, shared cooking and informal dining, reinforcing the broader idea that the yacht should work comfortably for repeated private use rather than only for formal entertaining.
Malcolm McKeon's exterior treatment gives B.Neos a long, low silhouette with an emphasis on horizontal lines and reduced visual mass. The interior direction from Francesca Muzio's FM Architettura uses natural materials and a more relaxed residential language, aligning the accommodation with Benetti's stated aim of creating a yacht that feels lived in rather than staged.
The sale also gives Royal Yacht International a role in the first customer transaction for a model that sits in an increasingly competitive part of the market. At around 40 metres, buyers can choose among a wide range of semi-custom and full-custom yachts, so the B.Neos proposition depends on its integrated hybrid system and alternative layout being strong enough to differentiate it from more conventional displacement designs.
Benetti's wider strategy has increasingly combined established series production with new platforms aimed at different ownership profiles. Hull #1 of B.Neos now joins that pipeline with a named delivery season, and the next important milestones will be construction progress, technical commissioning and confirmation that the production yacht carries through the design and efficiency targets presented at launch.
For the buyer, the spring 2028 delivery date provides a clear horizon for completion while leaving time for the yard and design teams to develop the final specification around the owner's requirements. For the market, the first sale turns B.Neos from a concept-led announcement into an active new-build programme and gives Benetti's hybrid 40-metre proposition its first commercial validation.
