The 66th Genoa International Boat Show closed with 138,273 visitors, an 11.3% increase, alongside more than 4,600 sea trials and exhibitors from 45 countries.

Attendance rises sharply at Genoa's 66th boat show

The 66th Genoa International Boat Show closed on 6 October after six days with a reported 138,273 visitors, an 11.3 per cent increase on the previous edition. Organiser Confindustria Nautica presented the result as evidence of sustained interest in Italian boatbuilding and the wider marine industry.

The figure is significant but not sufficient on its own to measure the event's commercial success. Genoa serves a broad market, from smaller recreational craft to yacht construction, engines, electronics and specialist industrial suppliers. The interests of visitors to those sectors may differ considerably.

On-water activity offers another measure

More than 4,600 sea trials were conducted during the show, providing visitors with opportunities to experience boats under power or sail rather than judging them solely while berthed. Organisers also reported 215 new products, indicating a substantial programme of equipment and vessel launches.

Sea trials create an important link between exhibition interest and technical evaluation, although the number conducted should not be confused with confirmed customer orders. For superyacht-related suppliers, demonstrations can support commercial discussions whose results emerge only later.

International participation reaches well beyond the Italian market

The show included exhibitors and activity involving 45 countries, with a series of meetings for international buyers and industry representatives. Its conference programme encompassed approximately ninety technical and institutional sessions, addressing subjects that influence the marine industry's working environment.

Those discussions matter because regulation, marina infrastructure, environmental standards and workforce issues can affect large yachts even when much of the exhibition's physical display is devoted to smaller vessels. Genoa's strength is the breadth of the surrounding Italian marine supply chain.

Waterfront redevelopment shapes the future event

The exhibition continues within Genoa's Waterfront di Levante as development of the show and marina area progresses. A purpose-designed waterfront venue offers operational advantages for moving visitors between boats, displays and conferences, but major redevelopment also requires careful staging.

Confindustria Nautica has announced dates for the next Genoa International Boat Show, from 30 September to 5 October 2027. That advance schedule allows builders and suppliers to coordinate new models, client visits and demonstrations with the autumn European yacht-show calendar.

What the 2026 results reveal for superyachts

Many large-yacht clients arrive in the region for Cannes and Monaco, while Genoa provides connections to a more extensive group of Italian boatbuilders and equipment specialists. A successful mixed exhibition can benefit superyacht companies through supply-chain relationships even if the large-yacht fleet is not the show's dominant attraction.

The 2026 totals document attendance and activity. The more revealing long-term measures will be exhibitor retention, business conducted and how the new waterfront facilities support both visiting yachts and the companies that supply them.
