IGY Marinas has been appointed long-term operator of IL Monte Galala Marina on Egypt's Red Sea coast, extending its network into a major mixed-use waterfront project.

Egyptian developer Tatweer Misr has appointed IGY Marinas as the long-term operator of IL Monte Galala Marina on the Red Sea coast. The agreement moves IGY from an advisory role into operating responsibility for a marina designed to accommodate yachts from 10 to 80 metres.

More than 150 berths are planned

The marina is designed with more than 150 berths, including two berths for yachts up to 80 metres. Ten per cent of capacity will be assigned to yachts above 40 metres, giving the project a defined superyacht component alongside smaller recreational craft.

A helipad is also planned for owners, guests and nearby yacht operations. Those transport links can be important on the Red Sea, where yacht itineraries increasingly connect resort destinations, aviation gateways and longer international cruising routes.

The marina forms part of a much larger development

The marina itself is valued at approximately US$44 million and sits within a wider IL Monte Galala phase representing around US$1 billion of investment. The surrounding project combines hospitality, residences, business events and leisure uses around the waterfront.

Tatweer Misr expects the wider development to create thousands of direct and indirect jobs and attract substantial visitor numbers. For the marina, that mixed-use context can provide restaurants, accommodation and services that help keep the destination active outside peak yacht periods.

IGY moves from adviser to operator

IGY first joined the project as marina operations adviser in February 2026 and will now assume long-term responsibility for operations. The company says it will apply its international customer-service and operating standards through the new agreement.

That transition matters because design advice and daily marina management are different disciplines. The operating phase will test berth allocation, crew services, maintenance standards and the quality of the guest experience under real traffic conditions.

Egypt gains another link in the Red Sea yacht corridor

The partners position IL Monte Galala as part of a route connecting the Mediterranean, Gulf, Indian Ocean and Asia. Its success will depend on how effectively it integrates with customs, fuelling, technical support and other regional marinas rather than operating as an isolated resort facility.

For IGY, the appointment expands a global network built around destination marinas used by large yachts. For Egypt, it provides an established operator as the country seeks a larger share of international yachting and marine-tourism traffic.
