Latest Amels 60 Begins North Sea Trials Ahead of Spring Delivery

Amels 60 leaves Vlissingen for trial work

The latest Amels 60 has entered the North Sea for a comprehensive sea-trial programme ahead of final delivery. The 60-metre yacht passed through the Vlissingen lock before moving into open water where performance and onboard systems can be tested together.

The milestone represents the transition from construction to operation. Machinery and systems that have previously been commissioned alongside the quay are now assessed under the loads and environmental conditions they will experience during normal use.

Trials focus on the yacht as a complete system

Sea trials cover the interaction between propulsion, steering, stabilisation, electrical systems and guest-comfort equipment. Measuring those systems together gives the project team a more realistic picture than isolated component testing can provide.

The process also gives crew an opportunity to become familiar with the yacht before handover. Any adjustments identified during the programme can be completed while the yard’s engineering teams still have direct access to the vessel.

Spring delivery moves closer

Damen Yachting scheduled the yacht for delivery in spring once trial and completion work is finished. The timing places the vessel on track to enter service ahead of the main Mediterranean cruising season.

The project adds another operational example to the established Amels 60 platform. Repeated deliveries allow the builder to refine engineering and service knowledge while owners continue to customise interiors and onboard use around individual priorities.
