Mirazur Capital and Marina Port Vell have added Biras Marina in Virgin Gorda to their developing network, extending the Barcelona operator's model into the Caribbean.

Barcelona's Marina Port Vell and majority shareholder Mirazur Capital have added Biras Marina in Virgin Gorda, British Virgin Islands, to their international marina portfolio. The move creates a direct operating link between a major Mediterranean superyacht base and a Caribbean winter destination.

Biras provides 25 berths and 20 moorings

Biras Marina forms part of Biras Creek Resort in Virgin Gorda's North Sound and provides twenty-five berths for yachts up to 70 metres, together with twenty mooring buoys. The facility supports both short and longer stays rather than focusing only on transient calls.

Services include water, electricity, internet access, yacht cleaning and catering for owners and crews. The surrounding resort adds villas, restaurants, retail and a helipad, giving visiting yachts access to shore-side hospitality without leaving the immediate area.

The acquisition extends Port Vell beyond the Mediterranean

Mirazur Capital previously acquired a majority stake in Marina Port Vell and set out plans to build a network in strategically important yachting destinations. Biras is the first addition that takes the Barcelona marina's operating model outside the Mediterranean.

That geographic pairing follows the established seasonal movement of many large yachts between Europe and the Caribbean. A common operating group can potentially simplify service standards, customer relationships and commercial links for yachts using both regions during the same annual programme.

North Sound is already a recognised yacht destination

Virgin Gorda's North Sound combines protected water, resort infrastructure and access to wider British Virgin Islands cruising grounds. Biras therefore joins an established destination rather than trying to create superyacht demand in a location without existing yacht traffic.

For captains, the practical questions will centre on berth depth, power, provisioning, technical support and transport links. The resort setting adds owner appeal, but operational reliability will determine whether larger yachts use the facility repeatedly through the winter season.

Marina networks are becoming more international

Large marina groups are increasingly linking facilities across established cruising regions, giving owners and crews more consistent service expectations. The Port Vell-Biras connection follows that trend by combining two very different locations within one investment and operating strategy.

The next stage will be how much of Barcelona's service model is transferred to Virgin Gorda and whether additional marinas join the network. For the superyacht market, the acquisition adds another sign that marina ownership is consolidating around destination portfolios rather than individual sites.
