The 2026 Mercy Ships Yachting Day Gala brought members of the superyacht industry to Carlton Cannes on 9 September to support free surgical care.
The second Mercy Ships Yachting Day Gala brought participants from the international yachting community to the Carlton Cannes on 9 September 2026, alongside the Cannes Yachting Festival. A post-event report published on 16 September described an evening of dinner and fundraising in support of the organisation’s hospital-ship medical programmes.
The gala was organised through the yachting industry’s fundraising initiative for Mercy Ships, bringing together people who work across yacht building, brokerage and marine services. It was a separate charitable gathering rather than an official measurement of attendance or commercial activity at the boat show.
The Yachting Day initiative was conceived by maritime lawyer Robert Allen and draws on a fundraising model already used by Mercy Ships with the commercial shipping industry. The event’s organisers scheduled the 2026 edition for Wednesday 9 September at the Carlton, as confirmed on their official event page.
Mercy Ships says its inaugural Cannes gala in 2025 brought together 145 members of the industry and raised €270,000 before additional contributions from partners. Those figures belong to the 2025 event; a verified 2026 fundraising total has not been published in the sources reviewed for this report.
Mercy Ships operates hospital ships that provide surgical services and training in countries where access to safe surgery is limited. Its floating facilities depend on medical specialists and maritime crews, creating a practical connection between the organisation and the wider marine industry.
The initiative’s stated purpose is to turn yacht-industry financial support and professional networks into resources for that work. The reporting available so far does not establish how many surgeries the September 2026 gala will finance, so any such estimate would be premature.
The post-event account describes participants hearing from organisers about the organisation’s medical mission and taking part in the gala programme. Anyone wishing to examine the initiative or support it can consult the official Yachting Day event page for the organisers’ published information.
Superyacht Guide will report any confirmed results of the 2026 fundraiser separately if the organisers release them. This article does not reuse the 2025 fundraising total as though it were a result from this year.
