NextBoat Appoints Ross Tannenbaum to Lead US Yacht Brokerage Network

Ross Tannenbaum has become NextBoat CEO, leading a US sales and services group that includes the superyacht brokerage Autograph Yacht Group.

A new chief executive inherits an integrated yacht sales business

NextBoat announced on 29 September that Ross Tannenbaum had become its chief executive officer, succeeding Brian John, who remains on the board of directors. The US public company combines several sales and services operations, including Off The Hook Yachts, Autograph Yacht Group and Azure Funding. Its business model spans brokerage, direct vessel purchases, auctions and financing.

This is a broader organisation than a single luxury-yacht brokerage, which explains why the appointment matters beyond an executive title. Different parts of the group work with customers who have different buying processes, from smaller recreational boats to larger yachts requiring experienced negotiation and specialist documentation.

Tannenbaum's experience comes from consumer markets

The new CEO previously served as president of Fanatics and chief executive of Dreams, a publicly traded sports memorabilia and licensed-products business. NextBoat describes his appointment as part of a transition from establishing a public-company structure toward profitability, greater national reach and the development of its technology platform.

These ambitions do not automatically produce results in the superyacht market. Larger transactions are relatively infrequent and usually involve detailed surveys, offshore holding companies, international law and highly individual negotiation. Processes that work for high-volume used-boat sales must be adapted carefully rather than assumed to transfer unchanged.

Autograph Yacht Group provides the large-yacht connection

Within the NextBoat portfolio, Autograph Yacht Group is the brand most directly associated with specialist luxury-yacht brokerage. Its participation can give the parent organisation access to a market where customer trust and the accuracy of vessel information are particularly important.

An integrated group might use shared marketing, data analysis, financing relationships and administrative systems across its brands. But clients deciding whether to sell a 40- or 60-metre yacht will still assess the broker's market knowledge, quality of buyer contacts, discretion and ability to manage a complex sale.

Technology can accelerate administration, not substitute for surveys

NextBoat promotes a data-driven model incorporating artificial intelligence in aspects of inventory and sales. Market data can help evaluate asking prices, track comparable listings and identify changes in customer demand, while digital workflows may improve the speed of communication.

None of that reduces the need to verify title, class status, survey findings and contract terms before a yacht changes hands. Automated recommendations also depend on the quality of their source data. A historic listing with a stale asking price or incorrect specification could be misleading if used without professional checking.

Leadership change is a corporate milestone rather than a yacht sale

NextBoat was founded under the Off The Hook name in 2012 and adopted its current corporate identity in May 2026. Tannenbaum now takes charge as the company develops a more coordinated model for buying and selling boats and yachts.

The announcement contains no confirmation of a particular superyacht sale or a new-building order. The important follow-up will be how the company's brands perform under the new leadership, and whether their customers see better service without losing the personal expertise essential to large-yacht brokerage.
