RMK Reveals 55m ARCANE ERA With 5,000nm Range and IPS Propulsion

A new 55-metre ARCANE concept

RMK Yachts has presented ARCANE ERA, a 55-metre displacement expedition concept developed around a 499 GT platform. The design combines a steel hull and aluminium superstructure with accommodation for 12 owner and guest berths across six cabins.

ERA is part of RMK’s new ARCANE design direction rather than an announced contracted build. Published dimensions, performance figures and equipment therefore remain concept specifications until a client project enters construction and receives its final technical approvals.

Espen Øino, Cassetta and Van Oossanen

Espen Øino International is responsible for exterior design, Cassetta Yacht Designers for the interior and Van Oossanen for naval architecture. The combination brings established large-yacht design and hydrodynamic expertise to a platform intended to remain below the 500 GT threshold.

RMK gives the yacht a 9.10-metre beam and 2.60-metre draft. Crew accommodation is planned for 11 people in six cabins, with Bureau Veritas commercial yacht classification included in the published specification.

IPS propulsion and 5,000nm target

The concept uses IPS propulsion and lists a 16-knot maximum speed with a 12-knot cruising speed. RMK quotes a 5,000-nautical-mile range at nine knots in eco mode and identifies hybrid propulsion as an optional configuration.

Those figures are design targets rather than sea-trial results from a completed ARCANE ERA. Final range and fuel efficiency would depend on displacement, machinery selection, hotel loads, weather and the detailed propulsion package chosen by an owner.

Piazza, Piazzetta and private owner spaces

The aft Piazza deck covers 180 square metres, while a forward-facing Piazzetta provides another 94 square metres of outdoor living space. The owner’s private terrace is listed at 42.5 square metres, and the concept also includes a main-deck aft pool, gym, sauna and massage room.

RMK’s arrangement is intended to create distinct social and private zones without pushing the yacht beyond 499 GT. The next significant development will be a client contract that confirms whether ERA’s IPS, hybrid option and current general arrangement progress unchanged into a build.
