Romeo Marine Previews 60m Hybrid Romeo 60 at Monaco

Romeo Marine is using the Monaco Yacht Show 2026 to preview the 60-metre Romeo 60, the second large-yacht project in the Dubai shipyard’s growing new-build programme. The yacht is already under construction and follows the Romeo 55, but introduces a more technically ambitious propulsion concept built around hybrid diesel-electric generation and electric azimuthing pods.

The yard publishes an overall length of 60 metres, a 10-metre beam, a 2.6-metre full-load draft and a gross tonnage of 800 GT. Accommodation is planned for 12 guests across six staterooms, with 12 crew, making the project a meaningful step up in both technical complexity and onboard service capacity.

Diesel-electric generation feeds azimuthing pod drives

The defining engineering feature is the propulsion architecture. Romeo Marine says efficient generators will supply electrical power to the yacht’s domestic systems as well as to electric azimuthing pod drives, separating electrical generation from the propulsion units in a configuration intended to improve efficiency and manoeuvrability.

The yard also links the system to lower emissions, reduced noise and reduced vibration compared with a conventional mechanical arrangement. Those benefits will ultimately depend on the final machinery specification, control strategy and operating profile, but the architecture gives the Romeo 60 a clear technical identity before launch.

Gresham exterior design meets Pulina interiors

Gresham Yacht Design is responsible for the exterior lines, while Pulina Exclusive Design Studio is developing the interior. Romeo Marine characterises the project as an extension of its approach to contemporary luxury, combining a relatively sleek profile with an interior intended to remain calm and refined despite the yacht’s substantial 800 GT volume.

The steel hull and aluminium superstructure follow established large-yacht construction practice, balancing structural strength with weight control above the main deck. Romeo Marine lists a maximum speed of 16 knots and a cruising speed of 13 knots, though final performance will need to be confirmed after completion and sea trials.

The Monaco preview comes while construction is active

Romeo Marine first announced keel laying for the Romeo 60 in 2025, and its 2026 Monaco material now identifies the yacht as one of the two projects shaping the yard’s current evolution. The show gives brokers, owners and project advisers an opportunity to review the design while the build remains active rather than waiting until the yacht is complete.

That timing is commercially important for a custom builder because construction progress provides evidence of production capability at the same time that future owners are considering later projects. The shipyard’s 12,000-square-metre Dubai Maritime City facility includes a 120-metre construction hall and is intended to support multiple large-yacht programmes.

Romeo 60 broadens the yard’s technical proposition

The Romeo 55 establishes the yard’s first completed reference, while the Romeo 60 pushes the programme toward a different propulsion model and a larger 60-metre platform. Together they show Romeo Marine trying to build a recognisable family without simply enlarging the same technical package from one hull to the next.

At Monaco, the Romeo 60 therefore matters as more than a future model announcement. It is the project that will test whether Romeo Marine can translate its design language into a larger hybrid superyacht while maintaining the craftsmanship and owner-focused interior work that the company places at the centre of its identity.
