Sarp is progressing the first 25.9m XSR 85 RPH in Antalya, with RED Yacht Design's five-cabin raised-pilothouse layout and planned 2027 completion.

Construction shifts from concept to shipyard

Sarp Yachts is progressing its first 25.9-metre XSR 85 RPH at its Antalya facility, following an update from RED Yacht Design on 8 October 2026. The raised-pilothouse motor yacht has been developed with exterior and interior design by RED and naval architecture by Van Oossanen Naval Architects. Completion is targeted for 2027. This is an active construction programme, not an already delivered yacht or a claim that final sea trials have been completed.

The model extends the builder's XSR family through a different bridge and accommodation arrangement rather than introducing an entirely unrelated product. RED says the brief was to find more functional space and a stronger relationship with the sea within a relatively compact superyacht. An ambitious layout at this length is a technical challenge because the wheelhouse, guest spaces and machinery all compete for finite deck area.

Why the bridge arrangement matters

The defining raised pilothouse places navigation in an elevated setting while helping preserve room for private accommodation on the main deck. It also changes the way guests and crew move between decks. Exterior glazing is intended to admit daylight and soften the boundary between enclosed lounges and open terraces. The success of the configuration will depend on bridge visibility, safe circulation and the actual internal proportions achieved after construction.

A drawing can make generous windows and a large social area appear effortless, but those decisions have engineering consequences. Glass requires structure, reliable seals and protection against reflected light. Stairways must serve the intended guest and crew routes, while emergency escape remains possible. The shipyard has to convert an attractive arrangement into a vessel that works when under way in rough weather, not merely alongside a berth.

Ten guests in five cabins

The proposed guest complement is ten across five staterooms, including an owner's suite on the main deck. The placement provides the principal guest with a different level of separation from lower accommodation and can give valuable views. RED also describes bespoke finishes and a bright, contemporary material palette designed around the yacht's broad exterior glazing. Final interior photographs will be required to verify the precise effect.

Cabin count alone cannot tell a purchaser whether a yacht is comfortable for extended family use. Bed configurations, ensuite access, storage, separation from machinery and crew circulation influence real life aboard. An owner's main-deck suite can be a considerable advantage, provided its privacy is protected from guests moving toward the forward deck and its placement does not squeeze important common spaces.

Naval architecture and operating efficiency

Van Oossanen's participation brings specialist hull-design capability to the programme. Efficiency is not established by a design studio's reputation alone; it depends on the actual hull, displacement, propulsion installation and cruising speed selected. Owners should request a defined performance basis, including range, loading assumptions and fuel reserves, and compare those claims with independent sea-trial results once the yacht is completed.

The XSR 85 RPH has to balance many competing requirements. Large tenders and extensive leisure equipment may improve the guest proposition but add weight above and aft, while air-conditioning and hotel loads affect generator demand and noise. Planning for equipment servicing, reliable ventilation and future upgrades can be more valuable than adding another visible luxury feature that compromises maintenance access.

What the construction stage tells buyers

A project targeted for completion in 2027 will pass through distinct milestones before an owner can take delivery. Primary structure, fairing, machinery installation, piping, cabling, joinery, commissioning and class inspections involve different specialist teams. Delays in equipment supply or design decisions can interrupt the critical path even when a hull appears substantially built. The latest announcement does not resolve all of those future risks.

A buyer considering the vessel during construction should obtain a specification linked to a realistic completion schedule. The contract ought to define remaining customisation choices, costs for change requests, survey access and the acceptance criteria for major systems. The advantage of an advanced build is a shorter potential wait than starting from scratch; the disadvantage can be reduced freedom to alter structure or major layout decisions.

RED Yacht Design and Sarp Yachts

RED Yacht Design was founded in 2017 by Cana Gökhan and Fatih Sürekli. On this project the studio controls the aesthetic language of both exterior and interior, enabling a more coherent approach to proportions, windows and private living spaces. Van Oossanen is responsible for naval architecture, while Sarp must coordinate fabrication, suppliers, certification, outfitting and final testing at its Turkish facility.

That distribution of responsibility is important to a future owner. A modification proposed by an interior designer can affect structural weight or the operation of technical equipment, while decisions about hull performance can limit the dimensions of an amenity. Keeping these conversations active throughout construction is a major part of delivering a custom yacht that performs as originally intended.

Turkey's position in the 24-metre-plus market

Turkish builders have become increasingly visible in the larger yacht market through a combination of naval engineering, metal fabrication, interior craftsmanship and specialist suppliers. Antalya provides an established coastal industrial base from which owners' representatives can inspect construction. Competitive pricing is not sufficient on its own, however; buyers need reliable documentation, clear quality standards, realistic after-sales support and confidence in the project team.

At approximately 26 metres, the XSR 85 sits close to the threshold at which owners begin comparing substantial crewed production yachts with small custom superyachts. The right answer depends on intended use. Short summer cruising with family may place a premium on efficient decks and a manageable crew, while ambitious longer passages demand greater attention to redundancy, endurance and service availability.

The next proof will come at sea

The October update is a specific progress report, not a delivery announcement. The company identifies a raised wheelhouse, a five-cabin guest plan and 2027 as its intended completion horizon. Any marketed speed, range or noise figure should remain provisional until tested under documented conditions. A final build may also incorporate customer changes not shown in early visuals.

For Sarp and RED Yacht Design, the XSR 85 RPH is an opportunity to demonstrate that thoughtful naval architecture and space planning can make a comparatively compact yacht feel more generous. Its success will ultimately be measured by the completed layout, reliable technical operation and owner experience rather than the number of promises attached to a render.
