Sela and ICON Saudi Plan Specialist Superyacht Maintenance Facility in Jeddah

An agreement focused on practical yacht services

Sela, a subsidiary of Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, has signed a memorandum of understanding with ICON Saudi to explore a specialist luxury-yacht maintenance facility in Jeddah. The announcement was reported by the Saudi Press Agency on 24 September 2026 following the signing at the Monaco Yacht Show.

The agreement targets a gap in regional technical support for yachts operating in the Red Sea, where major work has often been carried out outside Saudi Arabia. It is an agreement to cooperate on developing the facility, not confirmation that a completed yard or dry dock is already operating.

A closer service base for an expanding fleet

The proposed facility would serve owners and operators travelling among Jeddah, AMAALA, Shura Island and other coastal destinations. Sela describes the ambition as adding specialist engineering capability and international expertise alongside existing berthing and hospitality infrastructure.

Maintenance and refit involve more than a waterside location: repair skills, spares, lifting capacity, environmental controls and reliable support all need to be established. The agreement signals intended investment but does not yet supply confirmed berth counts, lifting specifications or an opening date.

How the facility could fit the wider region
