Henri-Lloyd will equip Scaramouche Sailing Trust sailors and coaches through a new apparel partnership, extending access to marine training and careers.

A partnership centred on participation

Henri-Lloyd has become an official partner of Scaramouche Sailing Trust, supporting the charity’s work with young people who might otherwise struggle to access sailing. The clothing brand announced the partnership on 23 September and said it had supplied an initial 30 pieces of technical and lifestyle kit.

Scaramouche works with Greig City Academy, a state secondary school in north London, to provide time afloat and a route towards maritime opportunities. The new arrangement concerns equipment and access to the sport rather than the launch of a yacht or a commercial charter.

Technical clothing for sailors and coaches

The partnership will provide performance marine apparel alongside base layers, mid layers and leisure clothing. Henri-Lloyd’s parent, Monte Rosa Sport, also owns Odlo and Janus and plans to use suitable inventory to assist charitable programmes.

For an education programme, dependable clothing can help participants concentrate on learning rather than on the cost of assembling a technical wardrobe. A donation of garments does not by itself supply all the equipment or instruction required for sailing safely.

A pathway into the industry

The trust uses sailing to develop practical skills, responsibility and teamwork as well as a familiarity with life on the water. Some participants have progressed towards competitive sailing and maritime employment, giving the programme a link to the marine workforce.

One of the important distinctions is that this is a long-term educational relationship, not a single-day promotional event. Its value will depend on continuing participation and the resources available to the charity over successive seasons.

Part of a wider giving programme

Monte Rosa Sport has described Scaramouche as the first of a planned network of charity partners receiving appropriate inventory. Henri-Lloyd’s official release identifies the trust and the initial supply of kit, while future donations and any further partner charities remain to be confirmed.

Superyacht businesses looking at recruitment and access to maritime careers can follow such programmes as part of the wider skills pipeline. The company’s original announcement and photograph document the new partnership without implying that the trust has become a commercial yacht-training provider.
