Teledyne FLIR Brings M460 Thermal Imaging to Monaco Yacht Show 2026

Teledyne FLIR Marine will use the Monaco Yacht Show 2026 to demonstrate a group of thermal-imaging systems aimed at improving night navigation, situational awareness and onboard security. The company’s confirmed show line-up includes the M460 fixed-mount thermal camera, M364C thermal camera and Ocean Scout Pro handheld thermal monocular.

Thermal imaging has become an increasingly useful bridge technology on large yachts because it can reveal heat signatures in darkness and reduced visibility when conventional optical cameras provide limited information. It does not replace radar, AIS, watchkeeping or safe-speed obligations, but it can give bridge teams another independent view of nearby craft, people and obstacles.

M460 targets fixed-mount situational awareness

The M460 is the largest fixed-mount system in FLIR Marine’s Monaco line-up and is intended for continuous observation from the yacht rather than handheld use. Fixed thermal cameras can support night approaches, security monitoring and visual confirmation of contacts detected by other navigation sensors.

For superyacht installations, integration and placement matter as much as the camera itself. Sightlines, mast position, vibration, display routing and bridge-system integration all affect how useful thermal imagery becomes in practical navigation.

M364C combines thermal and visible imaging

The M364C adds multispectral capability by combining thermal imagery with a visible-light camera. That can make targets easier to interpret because thermal contrast identifies heat while the conventional camera provides colour and visual context when light levels allow.

On a large yacht, that combination can be useful when entering poorly lit anchorages, monitoring tenders and water activity after dark, or checking an uncertain contact before the bridge team commits to a manoeuvre. It remains an aid to decision-making rather than a substitute for the vessel’s primary collision-avoidance systems.

Ocean Scout Pro adds a portable option

FLIR will also present the Ocean Scout Pro handheld thermal monocular. A portable unit can be used away from the bridge by deck teams, security personnel or crew working from tenders, giving the yacht a thermal-observation capability that is not tied to a fixed camera position.
