A new certification at Monaco

Benetti's 67-metre hybrid motor yacht DAGGER has joined the fleet certified by the SEA Index environmental programme, according to an announcement from Yacht Club de Monaco dated 25 September 2026. Prince Albert II visited the yacht during Monaco Yacht Show, drawing attention to the continuing work between the builder and the club on emissions assessment.

The certification is a separate development from the yacht's earlier Monaco appearance and does not constitute a newly announced launch or sale. Yacht Club de Monaco identifies DAGGER as Benetti's FB288 and the second Benetti yacht in the initiative after the 67-metre KASPER 7.

What the SEA Index actually assesses

The SEA Index is an independent framework for evaluating and comparing yachts' carbon dioxide emissions, with its certification methodology reviewed by Lloyd's Register. More than 130 yachts over 24 metres are certified under the programme, and eligibility expanded to boats from 10 metres at the beginning of the 2026 season.

That broader threshold is important because the programme now spans more than the traditional large-yacht fleet. The club also reports a separate Air Quality certification introduced in 2026 with AtmoSud, covering nitrogen oxides and particulate matter, with underwater radiated noise being considered for a future extension.

Hybrid architecture aboard DAGGER

Benetti says DAGGER combines conventional propulsion, electric technologies and salt-battery energy storage in a modular hybrid architecture. Different operating modes are intended to suit different navigation scenarios and allow energy use, noise and vibration to be managed according to conditions.

The announcement describes the engineering approach, not a blanket claim that a 67-metre yacht operates without emissions in every mode. Specific operating results and emissions comparisons should be understood within the scope of the SEA Index assessment rather than inferred from the word hybrid alone.

A growing assessment framework

The certification is intended to give owners, captains and industry professionals a more consistent way to examine environmental performance. As the SEA Index widens the vessels and impacts it covers, meaningful comparisons depend on clearly defined boundaries and the measured data underlying each assessment.
