Westport is showing the new 40.99-metre W135 at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, introducing a refined raised-pilothouse flagship to visitors.

A new-generation Westport at Fort Lauderdale

Westport Yachts is presenting the W135 raised-pilothouse motor yacht during the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, which opened on 28 October and runs through 1 November 2026. The American yard identifies the 41-metre model among the yachts available for inspection at its Hall of Fame Marina display. It represents an evolution of Westport’s established semi-custom concept, with more contemporary lines and a carefully developed guest arrangement.

The first hull of the new series was launched earlier in 2026, making the autumn show an opportunity for owners to judge the result against the builder’s published design ambitions. This is a yacht intended for an experienced owner and professional crew, with its living spaces, operational arrangements and technical plant forming part of a complete package rather than isolated headline features.

Almost 41 metres with a broad beam

Westport publishes an overall length of 40.99 metres, a beam of 7.98 metres and a draft close to 1.8 metres. The configuration provides approximately 333 international gross tons, according to the builder. These measurements help explain the intended balance between usable guest volume, access to marinas and the speed expected from an American semi-custom motor yacht.

Dimensions alone do not settle a yacht’s operational suitability. Owners must consider berth limits, marina approach conditions, tender arrangements and the crew required to operate a vessel safely. The model’s relatively shallow quoted draft may broaden practical options, but it must always be checked against the actual loading condition and local water depths.

Ten guests in five ensuite cabins

The W135 is arranged for up to ten owner and guests in five ensuite staterooms. The owner’s full-width suite occupies the forward part of the main deck, with four further guest spaces below. Westport’s published arrangement includes a convertible exercise room with Pullman berths, giving the owner options in how the accommodation is used.

Accommodation flexibility is valuable when a yacht alternates between family cruising and entertaining. However, the most successful layout is one that provides genuine privacy, good circulation and easy access for the crew. Visitors should examine how service routes and guest routes connect, rather than concentrating only on the largest cabin or the most striking interior finish.

An engineering package built for extended cruising

Twin MTU 16V2000 M97L engines, rated at approximately 2,600 horsepower each, provide the published propulsion package. Westport quotes cruising and maximum speeds of about 20 and 25 knots respectively. The technical specification also lists stabilisation at rest and underway, multiple steering positions and a substantial domestic-services installation.

A 41-metre yacht operating at this level requires planned maintenance, spares management and reliable technical support. Speed claims should be interpreted in the context of load and sea state. The cost of fuel, engine service and crew training deserves the same attention as an attractive interior arrangement when preparing an acquisition budget.

Guest comfort and the working yacht beneath it

Westport specifies extensive air-conditioning capacity, water production and onboard communications for the W135. The equipment is intended to support long periods away from a home berth with a full complement of guests and crew. The design also makes space for watersports equipment and tender operations, which can shape how an owner uses distant anchorages.

Crew accommodation and service access are inseparable from guest enjoyment aboard a vessel of this size. The yard provides dedicated crew quarters, and the choice of onboard machinery needs to be assessed in relation to noise, maintainability and redundancy. Experienced captains and engineers should participate in the specification review before any final commitment.

What an inspection at the show can establish

The builder lists its Fort Lauderdale display at Hall of Fame Marina, facedock 18C. Visitors have an opportunity to examine the relationship between the raised pilothouse, main-deck accommodation and exterior entertaining areas. Those transitions determine whether a yacht remains easy to live on in changing weather and during a long cruising programme.

A proper inspection can also address details less visible in promotional photography, including access behind joinery, the locations of service panels and the ability to handle tenders without interrupting guests. Owners comparing the W135 with longer-range displacement vessels should ask how the different design priorities affect efficiency and annual operating cost.

A substantial step for Westport

The W135 extends Westport’s portfolio beyond the familiar 125-foot platform while retaining the builder’s emphasis on carefully controlled semi-custom construction. The combination of performance and ten-guest accommodation is pitched at owners who want a professionally operated yacht without commissioning a completely unique project from a blank page.

For the wider superyacht market, the W135’s Fort Lauderdale appearance illustrates continued interest in capable, American-built motor yachts at approximately 40 metres. The most meaningful judgement will come from sea trials, technical surveys and a transparent specification. Those will determine how effectively the new design translates its published capabilities into ownership.
