YETI Lite Reports Bring Environmental Benchmarking to Monaco Yachts

Water Revolution Foundation is taking environmental benchmarking directly aboard yachts displayed at the Monaco Yacht Show 2026 by hand-delivering complimentary YETI Lite reports between 23 and 25 September. The reports provide captains and chief engineers with an estimated environmental-performance score and a comparison against other yachts at the show and across the wider fleet.

The Foundation says the Lite assessment can achieve accuracy of up to 90 per cent and is designed as an accessible first step rather than a substitute for the complete Yacht Environmental Transparency Index process. Its purpose is to start a technical conversation with yacht teams that may not yet have assembled the full operating data needed for a comprehensive assessment.

YETI turns operational characteristics into a comparable benchmark

The full YETI methodology is intended to assess and compare yachts according to environmental performance using a common industry approach. That is important because fuel use, hotel loads, propulsion efficiency, onboard systems and operating profiles vary significantly between yachts, making simple comparisons based only on length, age or engine power potentially misleading.

YETI Lite reduces the data burden enough to produce an estimated result quickly. By handing the reports directly to vessels already gathered in Monaco, the Foundation can put a benchmark in front of the people responsible for operating and maintaining the yacht rather than leaving the methodology as an abstract sustainability tool.

Captains and engineers can use the score as a starting point

A Lite report is most useful when it prompts questions about where energy is being used and where the yacht differs from comparable vessels. A captain or chief engineer can then decide whether the potential value of a full assessment justifies gathering more detailed information about machinery, electrical loads, fuel consumption and operating patterns.

The approach also creates a common reference for discussions between owners, managers, yards and technical suppliers. Instead of beginning with a general ambition to make a yacht “greener”, the team can work from a quantified estimate and investigate the systems or operating practices that have the greatest influence on the yacht’s result.

Monaco gives the programme access to a concentrated fleet

The Monaco Yacht Show brings a large number of recent, refitted and actively operated superyachts into one port, making it an unusually efficient place to compare different technical approaches. Water Revolution Foundation is a strategic partner of the show and is also involved in the Blue Wake programme, which evaluates environmental solutions presented within the exhibition.

Delivering YETI Lite reports during the same week connects the technology discussion on shore with the yachts themselves. Suppliers can demonstrate lower-impact systems, while crews receive a separate indication of how the entire vessel may perform from an environmental perspective rather than assessing one component in isolation.
