TWW Yachts has taken the central sales agency for the 38.9-metre sailing yacht DAKOTA, bringing the aluminium performance cruiser back to the brokerage market. Built by Fitzroy Yachts in New Zealand, DAKOTA combines long-range cruising capability with a design pedigree shaped around serious sailing performance.
The brokerage announcement follows substantial recent owner investment and DAKOTA's completion of her 20-year survey. TWW says approximately €2 million has been spent on the yacht during the past 12 months, making the maintenance and survey history an important part of the sale proposition even though the brokerage announcement does not disclose an asking price.
DAKOTA was designed by Ed Dubois, whose large sailing yachts are known for balancing cruising comfort with the ability to perform under sail. Her original interior was created by RWD, while a 2022 refresh by H2 Yacht Design updated the living spaces without changing the yacht's underlying character.
That combination matters in the resale market because pedigree sailing yachts are often judged on both original design quality and the standard of subsequent investment. A well-documented interior update can improve usability and presentation, while the completed 20-year survey gives prospective buyers a clearer technical reference point for due diligence.
TWW's disclosure of around €2 million of expenditure during the last year provides useful context beyond the headline listing. Large sailing yachts can require concentrated periods of spending around surveys, machinery work, rigging, systems and cosmetic upkeep, so recent documented investment can materially affect how buyers assess future ownership requirements.
The central agency appointment also gives DAKOTA a single brokerage lead for the sale process. That should make specification, maintenance records, viewing arrangements and negotiations easier to coordinate as the yacht is presented to prospective buyers.
DAKOTA has previously appeared at major superyacht sailing events including the Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta, the Dubois Cup and the Superyacht Cup. Her competition history is relevant because it demonstrates that the yacht has been used for more than conventional cruising and has operated in the performance-oriented side of the large sailing-yacht market.
For buyers looking at aluminium performance cruisers around 40 metres, that history creates a distinct proposition from a purely cruising-led sailing yacht. The next useful market data point will be whether an asking price is made public, followed by any subsequent price changes and the eventual sale outcome if a transaction is completed.
