Burgess has listed the 40-metre Alloy Yachts motor yacht VESPER for sale at €10.9 million, presenting the 2009 build as a turnkey long-range cruiser.
Burgess has been appointed exclusive central agent for VESPER, the 40-metre motor yacht built by Alloy Yachts in 2009, with an asking price of €10.9 million. The aluminium vessel was designed externally by Ed Dubois with interiors by Donald Starkey, bringing together two names associated with a broad range of custom yacht projects.
VESPER is being presented in Vilanova, Spain, and remains available for inspection. The listing describes a maintained and ready-to-use vessel, but prospective buyers should still review its service records and surveys in detail. 'Turnkey' is a commercial description, not a substitute for a technical assessment.
Built to Lloyd's classification, the yacht has a metal structure rather than the fibreglass construction used on many production motor yachts of similar length. Aluminium can provide design and weight advantages, although its condition and long-term maintenance must be assessed by specialists familiar with the material.
On a vessel delivered in 2009, examination of hull systems, corrosion control, coatings and machinery service history is particularly relevant. Classification documentation may establish certain survey milestones, but it does not by itself describe the current condition of every onboard component.
The internal arrangement provides accommodation for up to twelve guests in five cabins. The owner's suite is forward on the main deck, with four additional cabins on the lower level and dedicated accommodation for a crew of seven. These arrangements support both family use and larger guest groups.
Exterior social areas include a generous sun deck with a jacuzzi, barbecue, wet bar and dining space. The aft deck provides a second place to eat outside, while a side-opening garage carries a Williams Dieseljet tender and water-sports equipment, keeping working gear apart from the main guest rooms.
Two Caterpillar C32 main engines are associated with an advertised cruise speed of thirteen knots and maximum of sixteen knots. At an economical speed of ten knots, the brokerage lists a range of approximately 3,200 nautical miles.
Those figures indicate a vessel suited to unhurried longer passages rather than high-performance coastal travel. Actual consumption and range will depend on loading, sea state, hull condition and how the crew manages generators and hotel demand during a voyage.
VESPER's combination of Dubois design, Starkey interiors, space for twelve guests and long-range capability gives buyers a way to compare an existing aluminium yacht with the much longer process of commissioning a custom new build.
No sale has been confirmed by the marketing announcement. The €10.9 million figure is an asking price, and the eventual transaction terms, owner identity and future programme remain unknown.
