50m Feadship KORU Listed With Northrop & Johnson After Rebuild

1983 Feadship returns to the market after major works

Northrop & Johnson announced on 18 September 2026 that the classic Feadship Koru has joined its sales fleet, with brokers Monty Batt and Richard Higgins handling the listing. The yacht is presently in Genoa, and the company describes her as 50 metres following a substantial two-year rebuild completed in 2024.

This is the Feadship commissioned in 1983 under the name Azteca, not the unrelated 125-metre Oceanco sailing yacht also named Koru. The distinction is especially important when reviewing existing fleet profiles, as historical records may show the Feadship's original length rather than her post-rebuild measurement.

Stern extension, new sundeck and machinery works

The project added 3.2 metres to the stern, expanding the beach club and swim platform, and built a new sundeck. Northrop & Johnson says the programme also included exterior refinishing, machinery overhauls, upgraded technical systems and substantial interior work, rather than cosmetic changes alone.

The yacht retains an aluminium semi-displacement platform and a profile originally designed by Jon Bannenberg. The brokerage quotes a cruising speed of 18 knots and maximum speed of 20 knots from twin MTU engines, which are marketing specifications rather than independently witnessed current trial results.

Reconfigured accommodation and deck amenities

A former television lounge has been converted into a fifth guest cabin, bringing the published arrangement to ten guests across a full-beam master, two VIPs and two twins. The rebuilt outdoor areas include an open-air cinema, dining and lounge areas, while the foredeck features a Jacuzzi and Jet Ski stowage.

Northrop & Johnson also lists modernised navigation and audiovisual systems and Starlink connectivity among the upgrades. Buyers should review the full survey, rebuild documentation, regulatory status and original versus modified specifications before treating the historic yacht's present configuration as comparable to an unmodified 1983 vessel.
