Turquoise Yachts is developing the 51-metre Rainbow II as a modern homage to the large sailing yachts of the early twentieth century. The project uses a classic visual language while incorporating the technical systems expected from a contemporary custom yacht.
The concept is intended to deliver a more traditional sailing experience without requiring owners to accept the operational limitations of an original period yacht. Modern machinery, comfort systems and materials sit behind the historic appearance.
The yacht’s proportions are designed around the long, elegant profile associated with early large sloops. Interior and technical spaces are being adapted to modern expectations for privacy, climate control and long-range cruising.
That combination allows the project to appeal to owners who value traditional sailing aesthetics but still want the convenience of a current superyacht. The challenge is to integrate equipment without making the yacht feel visually contemporary.
Rainbow II adds another large sailing project to a Turquoise portfolio dominated by motor yachts. The build demonstrates the yard’s willingness to work across different yacht types rather than restrict its facilities to one design language.
For Turquoise, the project also provides another reference in the revival of classic-inspired superyachts. It shows how traditional profiles can be reinterpreted without abandoning modern engineering or owner comfort.
