AMAALA Yacht Club Opens With 119 Berths on Saudi Red Sea

AMAALA Yacht Club has officially begun operations on Saudi Arabia’s north-western Red Sea coast, opening a new marina and clubhouse intended to draw visiting superyachts into the developing AMAALA destination. Developer Red Sea Global says the club is now welcoming founding members and visiting yachts, turning a long-promoted yachting project into an operational facility.

The opening matters to the superyacht market because AMAALA is being positioned as more than a resort marina. Its location creates a potential winter cruising base between the Mediterranean and Indian Ocean, while the wider Saudi Red Sea is attempting to develop the services, hospitality and destination infrastructure required to attract yachts that might previously have treated the region primarily as a transit route.

119 berths and capacity beyond 100 metres

According to Red Sea Global, AMAALA Marina provides 119 berths and can accommodate superyachts measuring more than 100 metres. Fuel is among the marine services available, while additional maintenance and repair facilities are planned as the destination develops.

The yacht club itself covers about 7,900 square metres and combines marina functions with dining, leisure, meeting and event spaces. A rooftop pool and the AYC Academy, which is intended to provide sailing and watersports programmes, broaden the facility beyond conventional berthing and shoreside support.

A new winter proposition for Mediterranean yachts

Red Sea Global highlights AMAALA’s position roughly 2,000 nautical miles from Monaco as part of its case for attracting yachts during the Mediterranean off-season. The proposition is significant: an operational high-end marina in the northern Red Sea could give owners and captains another option when considering winter programmes traditionally centred on the Caribbean or Indian Ocean.

That opportunity will ultimately depend on more than berth numbers. Large-yacht traffic requires dependable bunkering, technical support, logistics, crew services, customs and immigration procedures, security planning and rapid access to spares. The opening of the yacht club therefore represents an important milestone, but the depth of the surrounding superyacht support network will be the practical measure of AMAALA’s development as a repeat cruising destination.

Ocean Race finale adds international profile

AMAALA Yacht Club is also scheduled to become the focal point for the Grand Finale of The Ocean Race in 2027. That event gives the new facility an international sailing platform while the destination builds awareness among owners, captains, crews and the wider marine industry.

The marina forms part of AMAALA Marina Village and the broader AMAALA development, where luxury resorts and marine-focused attractions are being opened in phases. Red Sea Global says the yacht club, like the wider destination, operates using renewable energy.

From announced project to operating marina

For the superyacht sector, the most important element of the 14 September announcement is the change in status. AMAALA Yacht Club has been discussed for years as part of Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea tourism strategy; it is now receiving yachts. That moves the story from future infrastructure to an operational addition to the region’s cruising network.
