Ameritool's IBEX exhibit will focus on US-made 316 stainless gas springs, tension springs, dampers and fittings for marine hatches and panels.

Ameritool Manufacturing is bringing its stainless marine gas-spring and damper range to IBEX 2026, with products intended for boatbuilders and component engineers. The US company supplies hardware commonly installed on lids, hatches, engine covers and other moving panels.

These parts may be modest beside a yacht's propulsion system, but their reliability affects everyday access and maintenance. An engine-room hatch which cannot be safely supported can create a crew hazard during inspection.

Small components do important work aboard

Gas springs assist lifting or controlled movement of a panel, while dampers moderate motion. The correct arrangement depends on panel weight, hinge geometry and the direction of movement required.

Ameritool's catalogue includes fixed-force, adjustable and tension versions. Tension springs pull inward rather than extending like conventional gas springs, making them suitable for different closing and holding tasks.

The supplier offers 316 stainless steel constructions for marine exposure. This material can improve corrosion resistance compared with less suitable metals, but it does not eliminate the need for correct cleaning and inspection.

Different spring forms have different functions

A replacement selected solely on overall length or external appearance may provide the wrong force. The installer must match stroke, extended and closed lengths, attachment geometry and working rating.

Mounting brackets and end fittings form part of the complete installation. Builders should not combine unknown fittings and assume that the resulting assembly has the same specification as a tested supplier arrangement.

Yacht hatches also need manual access and emergency considerations. A damaged assist mechanism must not prevent the crew from opening an important access panel or isolating machinery.

Corrosion resistance does not replace sizing

Ameritool's official material identifies OEM supply and customised solutions, enabling yards to discuss repeat production rather than only individual replacement components. An equipment choice should include documentation and a predictable service path.

The manufacturer is using IBEX from 6 to 8 October to present the range to marine customers. The event provides a practical opportunity to assess finish, fit and the physical operating characteristics of the products.

Builders can review components in Tampa

For larger yachts and tenders, a component can be in service thousands of times and must cope with marine exposure. Duty cycle, saltwater conditions, temperature and panel weight should be captured in the specification.

This is a marine equipment and supply-chain development, not a claim about a named yacht installation. The photograph is official supplier imagery and the final mounting and force selection remains a job for the vessel's builder or qualified engineer. Procurement teams should also confirm parts availability and installation instructions with the manufacturer before specifying replacement components. Inspection access and crew safety remain the overriding criteria.
