Boero Launches BoeroCoat UHB to Reduce Superyacht Coating Layers

BoeroCoat UHB combines two preparation functions

Boero Yacht Coatings is launching BoeroCoat UHB – Ultra High Build & Undercoat during Monaco Yacht Show 2026. The product is designed to combine high-build filling performance with the characteristics of an undercoat, allowing several layers normally used during yacht surface preparation to be consolidated.

That matters because fairing and surface preparation are among the most labour-intensive stages of a superyacht paint programme. Reducing the number of separate applications can shorten the cycle while also limiting the quantity of material that must be mixed, applied, cured and sanded before the final finish is added.

Fewer layers target time, material and VOC reductions

Boero says the system is intended to simplify work for applicators while creating the correct base for subsequent finishing stages. The manufacturer links the reduced-layer approach with lower material consumption and a corresponding reduction in volatile-organic-compound emissions associated with the coating process.

The environmental claim is therefore tied to the application cycle rather than to a new propulsion or energy technology. On a large yacht, where painted surface areas can be substantial, changes in layer count and application time can affect labour planning, shed occupancy and the amount of coating product consumed during both new-build and refit work.

Blue Wake selection brings the product into Monaco’s sustainability programme

BoeroCoat UHB has been included in the Monaco Yacht Show’s Blue Wake 2026 programme, which highlights products and solutions developed with attention to reducing environmental impact. Boero is presenting the coating system as one of two principal innovation themes at its Monaco display this year.

The second theme is the company’s technical involvement with Ferrari Hypersail, where coating expertise has been applied to questions including material and thickness optimisation. Surface preparation remains a major refit variable

Paint-system efficiency is especially relevant during refits because surface condition, previous coating layers and project deadlines can vary substantially from yacht to yacht. A system that combines preparation stages may give yards and paint contractors another way to manage those variables, although the final specification still depends on substrate condition and the complete coating cycle selected for the project.

Boero is showing the new product in Monaco from 23 to 26 September. The launch adds a materials-focused story to a show where much of the sustainability discussion is otherwise centred on propulsion, batteries, fuels and onboard energy systems.
