Gunboat Moves Above 100ft With ONE HUNDRED PLUS Range

Gunboat has moved decisively into the superyacht category with ONE HUNDRED PLUS, a new range of one-off performance catamarans above 100ft. The yard introduced the concept around the Cannes Yachting Festival 2026, positioning the programme as a custom extension of the lightweight performance philosophy that has defined its smaller multihulls.

The move is significant because crossing the 30-metre threshold changes the technical and commercial context of a performance catamaran. Volume, structural loads, systems complexity, crew requirements and owner expectations all increase, while the design still has to protect the low weight and sailing efficiency on which Gunboat's identity is built.

ONE HUNDRED PLUS will be built as one-off yachts

Gunboat describes the programme as a range of custom yachts above 100ft, with each project built around the owner's intended use rather than a fixed production specification. The yachts will be built in La Grande-Motte, France, where Gunboat says every one of its yachts has been constructed since 2016.

That custom approach gives the yard room to vary layout, cruising programme and equipment while maintaining a common performance philosophy. At this size, owners may want anything from fast Mediterranean family cruising to long-range bluewater passages, regatta participation or extended periods living aboard.

Performance has to survive the growth in size

Gunboat says the larger yachts will retain the same focus on weight and lightness as its existing range. That is a difficult engineering balance because superyacht-scale interiors, tenders, machinery, hotel services and owner amenities can quickly erode the displacement advantage that makes a performance multihull attractive.

For a carbon-composite sailing catamaran, every major design choice becomes a weight-management decision. Battery capacity, air-conditioning plant, glazing, deck equipment, furniture and water toys all have to be considered against sailing performance and structural targets rather than added independently.

The range expands the performance-catamaran market

The 100ft-plus sector remains far smaller than the mainstream monohull superyacht market, but it has become more visible as owners look for space, efficiency and alternative cruising experiences. A wide beam can create exceptional living area relative to length, while sailing propulsion offers a fundamentally different operating character from a large motor yacht.

Gunboat's entry adds another recognised performance brand to that segment. It also strengthens the connection between high-performance composite technology and the luxury-yacht market, where multihulls are increasingly being considered for more than specialist racing or expedition roles.

Cannes provides the launch platform

Gunboat said the full picture of ONE HUNDRED PLUS would open at Cannes between 8 and 13 September. Linking the announcement to the show puts the yard in front of owners, brokers and designers already comparing large multihull concepts with conventional sailing and motor yachts.
