Harken’s Genoa 2026 display combines its first brushless UniPower winches with new deck hardware and retractable mooring equipment for larger yachts.

Harken is using the Genoa International Boat Show to present a new generation of sailing and superyacht deck hardware focused on lower weight, smaller installation volumes and improved energy efficiency. The range includes brushless UniPower 500/900 AD winches, Captive Multilayer systems, titanium padeyes and retractable CLR mooring equipment.

UniPower gains its first brushless motors

The UniPower 500/900 AD models are the first Harken winches to use brushless motors. Their drive system is integrated within the winch body, reducing the under-deck volume normally required for a separate motor and creating more freedom around deckhouse and deck layouts.

Harken says the new arrangement also improves energy efficiency and can work with existing cabling in many installations. Dedicated DC-to-DC conversion supports 12- and 24-volt systems, while 48-volt installations can connect directly to the winch architecture.

Captive Multilayer stores more line in the same envelope

The new Captive Multilayer 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0T series allows rope to build across multiple layers rather than being limited to a single drum layer. A free-running sheave is used to control the line as it is released.

The practical result is more available line length for a given winch size, which is valuable where technical space is tightly controlled. Reducing machinery volume can simplify installation and maintenance while freeing surrounding space for other deck or interior requirements.

Titanium and soft-attach hardware target lighter installations

Harken is also showing Ether soft-attach blocks and new low-profile Flush Deck Padeyes made from titanium. The padeyes are available in five sizes for working loads from 3 to 16 tonnes and use an orientable base to align with changing load directions.

These products address a familiar design problem on performance yachts: fittings need to carry substantial loads without adding unnecessary mass or visual clutter. Low-profile hardware can also make deck areas cleaner and reduce protrusions where guests and crew move during manoeuvres.

Retractable CLR systems move into the superyacht display

For superyachts, Harken is presenting CLR Bollards rated at 10, 20 and 30 tonnes together with CLR Fairleads. After mooring operations, the components retract flush with the deck so the working area can be returned to a cleaner configuration.

The company is also showing DynaDrive, a winch line designed around motorisation from the outset with a two-speed planetary gearbox and heavily integrated motor. The combined display shows deck machinery moving toward compact, electrically efficient systems that interfere less with yacht architecture.
