SAMOS is using Genoa 2026 to present new motion-control, electric-handling and hydrodynamic technologies aimed at larger yachts and superyacht projects.

SAMOS is expanding its presence at the 2026 Genoa International Boat Show with a larger Power Village stand focused on yacht motion control, hydrodynamic efficiency, electric handling systems and onboard equipment. The Genoa-based supplier is highlighting ZTEC Marine’s new ZTAB trim-control system, CUBO full-electric handling equipment and HULL VANE® technology, including a first Italian application on a 44-metre yacht.

ZTAB adds another approach to dynamic trim control

ZTAB is being presented as a new system for correcting vessel trim while underway. The technology is intended to influence running attitude and hydrodynamic efficiency, giving designers and operators another tool for managing how a yacht behaves across different speeds, loading conditions and sea states.

Trim-control systems can affect fuel consumption, ride attitude and onboard comfort, but their benefits depend heavily on hull form and installation geometry. SAMOS is therefore positioning ZTAB as part of a broader engineering package rather than as a universal add-on with identical results on every yacht.

Full-electric handling reduces hydraulic dependence

CUBO’s full-electric crane and gangway are another focus of the Genoa display. Moving deck-handling equipment away from central hydraulic systems can simplify pipework and localise power requirements, while also reducing the risk of hydraulic leaks around guest and tender-handling areas.

Electric actuation also allows control logic to be integrated more directly with onboard electrical systems. Final specification still depends on duty cycle, lifting loads, emergency arrangements and classification requirements, especially when cranes are used for tenders or other equipment whose safe handling is critical.

HULL VANE reaches a 44-metre Italian yacht

SAMOS is also presenting HULL VANE® hydrodynamic technology, with the company highlighting what it describes as an important first Italian application on a 44-metre yacht. The appendage is designed to influence stern-wave behaviour and recover part of the energy otherwise lost in the vessel’s wake.

For a large yacht, any reduction in resistance can translate into lower propulsion demand at a given speed, but actual gains vary with hull form, displacement and operating profile. The significance of the 44-metre installation is therefore the move from theory into a yacht-specific Italian application that can generate operating data over time.

A broader systems portfolio under one supplier

SAMOS has worked in ship motion control and naval equipment for more than four decades and is the Italian dealer for Naiad Dynamics, while also representing other specialist technologies. Its role extends from equipment supply into system configuration, installation supervision, commissioning and technical assistance.

The Genoa presentation reflects that wider model by placing stabilisation, trim control, hydrodynamics and electric handling within one supplier relationship. For builders and refit yards, the value lies in coordinating interfaces between systems rather than treating each component as an isolated purchase.
