Northrop & Johnson adds the 2008 Hatteras 80 MR. CHIPS to its sales fleet at $2.195m, highlighting a customised flybridge and four-cabin layout.
Northrop & Johnson announced on 14 September 2026 that it had added the 2008 Hatteras 80 MR. CHIPS to its sales fleet. Broker David Michie is offering the motor yacht at an asking price of $2.195 million, which is not evidence of a completed sale.
The model measures approximately 80 feet, placing it above the 24-metre boundary used by Superyacht Guide. The listing emphasises modifications made after delivery, so an interested buyer should assess this particular hull rather than rely on a standard Hatteras 80 specification.
A custom flybridge hardtop was fitted in 2015, and the broker reports that a hot tub was installed on the flybridge during 2023. Carpet and interior decorative updates were also carried out in 2023, while the tender received replacement tubes in 2025.
The beam is quoted at 21 feet eight inches, providing room for entertaining areas and a broad main-deck saloon. Northrop & Johnson describes a flybridge arranged for groups and an aft deck with a teak dining table, but any actual permitted passenger count should be verified separately.
MR. CHIPS has four guest staterooms accommodating eight people, including a full-beam master cabin and two queen-berth guest suites. The fourth cabin uses over-and-under berths, and the broker describes bathrooms attached to each guest cabin.
Twin Caterpillar C32 diesel engines rated at 1,800 horsepower each provide propulsion according to the sales release. Machinery hours, current service condition and performance under load were not independently measured for this article and should be documented at survey.
The reported updates give buyers several areas to inspect, particularly the altered flybridge structure, hot-tub installation and tender. Buyers should seek survey and maintenance records alongside confirmation of the asking price, tax position and any exclusions from the inventory.
The broker's official announcement provides the currently advertised arrangement and contact information. The accompanying photograph is supplied by Northrop & Johnson and depicts MR. CHIPS rather than a generic Hatteras model.
