Confindustria Nautica says Italian shipyards account for 568 current superyacht orders, representing 52 percent of the global order book by unit.

Italy enters the 66th Genoa International Boat Show with its position in large-yacht construction still central to the country's marine industry. Confindustria Nautica reports 568 superyachts in the Italian order book, equal to 52 percent of global orders, while the Genoa show itself is expanding the space devoted to larger yachts.

568 superyachts in the Italian order book

Confindustria Nautica's industry analysis places Italian shipyards at 568 superyacht orders, representing 52 percent of the global total by unit. The association says Italy's share has increased even as the worldwide order count has moderated, reinforcing the country's concentration of large-yacht construction capacity.

Order-book share does not mean that every yacht will deliver in the same year, and it should not be confused with annual production revenue. Projects span different stages from contract and engineering through hull construction, outfitting, trials and final handover, often across several calendar years.

High-end yards remain the strongest segment

The association describes the high-end and superyacht sector as a source of resilience within the wider Italian boating industry. Its research indicates that larger-yacht builders have maintained stronger conditions than several smaller-boat segments that remain more exposed to interest rates and middle-market consumer demand.

That split is important because headline boating statistics can hide very different conditions within the same national industry. A yard building 60-metre custom yachts operates with a different order cycle, customer base and financing profile from a company producing smaller leisure boats for dealer stock.

Genoa expands its larger-yacht presence

The 66th Genoa International Boat Show runs from 1 to 6 October with more than one thousand boats, 215 new products and exhibitors linked to 45 countries. Confindustria Nautica says occupancy of the Yacht and Superyacht dock has increased for the 2026 edition.

The association also reports that the average size of the three largest units in each show segment is up 14.1 percent compared with 2025. That change gives the exhibition a stronger connection to the part of the Italian marine industry that is currently performing most visibly on the international stage.

A market signal, not a forecast

Italy's 52 percent share provides a snapshot of current order-book concentration rather than a guarantee of future market share or delivery volume. Cancellations, new contracts, yard capacity, exchange rates and changes in owner demand can all alter the balance as projects move through the production cycle.

Superyacht Guide is recording the figures as industry data from Confindustria Nautica and linking them to the opening of Genoa's 2026 show. Future order-book changes should be compared using the same definitions and time period rather than mixing unrelated datasets.
