Kenyon's Signature induction cooktops win the 2026 IBEX Innovation Award for Furnishings and Interior Parts, recognised for bridge heating and low-glare matte glass.
Kenyon International's Signature Induction Cooktop Series has won the Furnishings and Interior Parts category in the 2026 IBEX Innovation Awards, announced in Tampa on 6 October. The competition recognised twelve winners from approximately one hundred submitted products across multiple marine equipment categories.
The distinction is meaningful for superyacht outfitting because a galley appliance must work in a moving, space-constrained environment while delivering the familiar functionality expected in a high-end residence. Judges considered both the cooking arrangement and the appearance of the surface, rather than recognising a stand-alone decorative detail.
The Signature range includes a Bridge function that joins adjacent induction areas into a larger heating surface. That can accommodate a griddle or an oversized pan that might otherwise heat unevenly across separate standard zones. A judge particularly highlighted this feature as a practical addition for cooking aboard rather than a purely visual upgrade.
Bridge operation does not remove the need for cookware suitable for induction, and actual heat distribution will vary with the vessel's power supply and the pan being used. Galley designers should examine whether the available electrical load and ventilation arrangement are compatible with the specific model chosen.
Kenyon describes a matte black glass-ceramic top designed to reduce reflected glare and make fingerprints and everyday marks less conspicuous. The appliance also uses slide-touch controls, which keep the control surface relatively clean and unobtrusive. In a yacht galley, these features are relevant where a cooking area is visually integrated with guest spaces.
The company supplies a SilKEN protective mat intended to improve stability and ease cleaning during ordinary use. Buyers should still follow the manufacturer's operating instructions regarding appropriate pans, heat, spill protection and what can remain on the surface while an element is on. The award is not a substitute for installation approval.
The Signature line is sold in several arrangements, including smaller two-burner and larger four-burner configurations. Their electrical requirements and physical cut-outs differ, making it inappropriate to assume that one unit can replace any existing galley stove without changes to cabling or cabinetry.
For designers, the useful outcome of this 2026 award is a validated example of a product targeting both marine safety and residential cooking expectations. It does not establish a guaranteed efficiency improvement for every vessel or indicate that IBEX endorses all appliance configurations. Final selection should follow a review of exact product specifications and onboard electrical capacity.
