43.6m Azimut Grande 44M Wins Innovation Route Special Jury Award

Azimut Yachts has won the Special Jury Award at the 2026 Innovation Route Awards with its new 43.6-metre Grande 44M. The recognition was presented during the Cannes Yachting Festival 2026, where the model made its public debut as the new flagship of Azimut's Grande range.

The award focuses attention on the yacht's combination of structural, hydrodynamic and energy-management measures rather than on a single headline technology. Azimut says the Grande 44M was recognised for bringing several efficiency-oriented systems together in one large-yacht platform while retaining the volume and owner-focused architecture expected in this segment.

Carbon construction supports four-deck architecture

The Grande 44M uses extensive carbon fibre in the superstructure to reduce weight while creating a four-deck arrangement. The architecture includes an upper deck that can function as a private owner's deck, together with a mezzanine-style aft area and a see-through pool intended to strengthen the connection between the beach club and the sea.

Reducing structural weight is important because it can influence both performance and the energy required to move the yacht through the water. In this case, Azimut combines the carbon structure with a Dual Mode hull and a carbon Hull Vane foil designed to reduce resistance and pitching.

Hybrid systems target quieter time at anchor

The technical package includes up to 30 square metres of solar panels and a mild-hybrid system with a battery room of up to 230 kWh. The battery installation is intended to support longer periods of silent, zero-emission hotel operation at anchor, reducing the need to run generator sets continuously when propulsion is not required.

Azimut states that the combined design and engineering measures can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by up to 30 percent compared with yachts of similar size. As with any builder efficiency claim, real-world results will depend on operating profile, loading, weather and speed, but the award confirms that the Cannes jury regarded the integrated approach as significant.

Award follows the Grande 44M's Cannes debut

The Grande 44M had already attracted attention ahead of Cannes as Azimut's new flagship, but the Special Jury Award gives the project an external show-level recognition at the point of its market debut. The jury described the yacht as introducing a new approach in the large-yacht segment, particularly through the way multiple efficiency technologies are combined.

For owners comparing new yachts in the 40-to-45-metre bracket, the more useful questions will be how the hybrid system performs in daily service, how much generator runtime can realistically be displaced, and whether the hydrodynamic and weight-saving measures translate into measurable fuel savings across a normal Mediterranean operating season.
