Oyster Reveals 36m Flagship as New Bluewater Generation

Oyster Yachts has revealed the Oyster 36M at the Monaco Yacht Show 2026, replacing the mystery around its pre-show flagship announcement with a fully specified 36-metre sailing superyacht. Designed by Frers Naval Architecture & Engineering, the new model is positioned as the flagship of a new Oyster generation and combines the company’s long-distance bluewater identity with the scale and interior volume expected from a 120-foot yacht.

The published specification confirms an overall length of 36 metres, or 118 feet 1 inch, with a waterline length of 34.25 metres and a beam of 9.26 metres. Standard draft is 3.8 metres, air draft is 49.2 metres and the yacht carries a stated sail area of 670 square metres, giving the project proportions that place it firmly in the sailing-superyacht category rather than simply extending Oyster’s existing production range.

Frers gives the 36M a new flagship platform

Oyster describes the 36M as a meeting of its own bluewater experience with the sailing-superyacht design work of Frers. Mani Frers says the project combines the performance and presence expected of a Frers sailing superyacht with the protection, robustness and comfort needed for long-distance sailing, framing the yacht around serious cruising rather than short-range showpiece use.

The 9.26-metre beam is central to that proposition because it creates substantially more interior and deck volume than smaller Oyster models while allowing the yacht to retain the long, purposeful proportions of a large sailing yacht. Oyster has not presented the 36M as a stripped-out racer; its emphasis is on a balance between sailing performance, ocean-going security, comfort and owner customisation.

Fuel, water and sail plan underline the cruising brief

Oyster lists fuel capacity at 12,000 litres and fresh-water capacity at 4,500 litres. Those figures, combined with the yacht’s 36-metre length and bluewater positioning, point to a design intended for extended passages and international cruising rather than dependence on short intervals between marina stops.

The 670-square-metre sail area gives the yacht a substantial working rig, while the 49.2-metre air draft will be a practical planning consideration for owners operating around bridges and height-restricted waterways. The interior is intended to be shaped around the owner

Oyster’s presentation places equal weight on the living environment, describing the interior as a space that can be shaped around the way an owner chooses to live aboard. The company has released interior layouts, deck plans and sail plans alongside new exterior and interior imagery, making the 36M a much more developed proposition than the teaser unveiled before Monaco.

That owner-led approach is consistent with the expectations of yachts at this scale, where accommodation, crew circulation, storage, technical access and social spaces are normally adapted far beyond a fixed production layout. The 36M therefore sits at an interesting point between Oyster’s established series-build experience and the level of personalisation associated with one-off sailing superyachts.

Oyster is extending its ownership model into the 36m class

The builder is also carrying its broader ownership package into the new flagship. Oyster highlights a two-year manufacturer warranty, a global service network, remote functions through the Oyster app and worldwide after-sales support, all of which become increasingly important as a yacht of this size operates across multiple cruising regions.

For Oyster, the reveal is more than the addition of another model. The company explicitly calls the 36M the flagship of a new generation, and the combination of Frers design, 36-metre scale and a global-cruising brief sets a new reference point for the brand above its previous range.

Monaco turns the teaser into a complete yacht story

SYG first reported the planned Monaco announcement when Oyster and the show organiser had confirmed only that a new flagship would be revealed on 24 September. The yard has now supplied the model name, principal dimensions, design attribution and a full set of plans and imagery, allowing the earlier preview to be replaced with verified technical information rather than speculation.

The Oyster 36M is therefore the concrete outcome of that announcement: a 118-foot Frers sailing yacht with 9.26 metres of beam, a 670-square-metre sail plan and a stated focus on long-range bluewater ownership.
