SOS Yachting and Uncharted Yachting have formed an exclusive Seychelles partnership supporting foreign commercial superyachts with permits, VAT and customs.
SOS Yachting and Seychelles-based Uncharted Yachting have formed an exclusive partnership to support foreign-owned commercial superyachts operating in the Seychelles. The service is aimed at owners, managers, captains and charter operators that need local help with commercial entry, tax, customs and cruising procedures.
The partnership focuses on yachts of 24 metres and above entering the country for charter activity. SOS Yachting says the objective is to combine its fiscal and regulatory experience with Uncharted Yachting's on-the-ground knowledge of Seychelles authorities and operations.
Foreign commercial yachts can use the Seychelles Temporary Cruise Permit framework to operate within the islands for a defined period. The partnership is intended to help yacht teams navigate the permit process alongside the supporting customs and local-authority requirements.
The initial permit period can extend to three months, with the possibility of a further three months within the same calendar year where the rules allow it. Captains and managers still need to confirm the current conditions for their particular vessel and charter programme before relying on the maximum period.
Commercial charter activity can also create Seychelles VAT and fiscal obligations, including registration and representation requirements for non-resident operators where applicable. The standard Seychelles VAT rate is 15 percent, but the tax treatment of a particular yacht depends on its activity and legal position.
SOS Yachting's role is therefore broader than filing a cruising permit alone. The partnership is intended to coordinate fiscal compliance with the practical documentation needed for a commercial yacht to enter, cruise and charter legally.
Uncharted Yachting contributes local operational knowledge and relationships with the authorities involved in yacht movements. That local presence can be important when a captain or management company is dealing with customs, port procedures and time-sensitive charter arrangements from outside the country.
SOS Yachting brings experience from other Mediterranean and international yacht-tax jurisdictions. Combining the two businesses gives the service both a local Seychelles interface and a specialist commercial-yacht compliance layer.
The announcement comes as the Indian Ocean continues to attract yachts looking for alternatives to the established Mediterranean and Caribbean seasons. The Seychelles offers a distinctive cruising area, but commercial operations require more preparation than a private leisure visit.
For superyacht managers, the practical value of the partnership will be in reducing uncertainty before the yacht arrives. Clear handling of permits, VAT, customs and local procedures can make the difference between a planned charter itinerary and avoidable delays once the vessel is already in the region.
