Sunseeker's 26.17m 86 Ocean Enclosed adds an integrated upper wheelhouse and Sky Lounge, flexible four- or five-cabin layouts and longer-range cruising intentions.

The new Ocean Enclosed design enters Sunseeker's range

Sunseeker has introduced the 86 Ocean Enclosed, a 26.17-metre motor yacht distinguished by a fully protected upper deck that combines the wheelhouse with a Sky Lounge. The model was presented during the 2026 Cannes Yachting Festival in September, as the British builder redefined the structure of its yacht families under the Ocean, Manhattan, Predator and Superyacht names. Unlike the company's larger 45M development, the 86 Ocean Enclosed addresses buyers seeking an owner-operated or professionally crewed vessel in a more manageable size category.

The announcement concerns the introduction of a model, not a confirmed delivery of its first hull. Sunseeker's current specification describes a beam of 6.56 metres and considerable choice in guest accommodation. The design attempts to create the sheltered living space of a larger yacht without requiring a substantially longer hull, which may be appealing to owners who spend time in northern Europe or travel outside the warmest Mediterranean weeks.

The upper lounge makes a different kind of yacht

The defining feature is an enclosed upper level that brings together the helm and an additional social room. It is intended to provide broad panoramic views, allowing guests to enjoy changing coastlines and longer passages without relying on open flybridge seating. The layout also creates a private area away from the main saloon where an owner can work, read or relax while retaining a connection to the surrounding water.

Combining navigation and hospitality functions requires disciplined planning. The wheelhouse needs controlled lighting, manageable reflections, appropriate acoustic separation and uninterrupted crew access. Guests should be able to use the lounge without interfering with the helm. The practical success of the arrangement will depend on how the completed design separates working functions from recreational space while preserving a sense of openness.

A main deck arranged around daylight

Sunseeker's design material shows extensive glazing on the main deck, with an emphasis on broad views and a flexible relationship between interior seating, dining and outdoor areas. The company describes a layout that can place the galley within a more social arrangement or provide a conventional separation between service and guest spaces. Both configurations offer advantages, depending on whether the owner prefers informal family cooking or a professional stewarded service model.

It can be tempting to favour an open plan for its photographic appeal, but the appropriate choice depends on use. A busy crew preparing meals for a large group may need separation from guest circulation and a reliable route to stores, while a family cruising privately may enjoy direct involvement in the galley. Ventilation, storage and sound separation should be assessed alongside the visual effect of open living space.

Four cabins with a potential fifth

The published accommodation plan offers four or five cabins, depending on configuration. Sunseeker describes welcoming lower-deck guest rooms, while some layout arrangements allow the principal owner's accommodation to occupy a different position within the vessel. These decisions influence how much space remains available for a larger saloon, service functions and flexible private rooms.

A prospective purchaser should examine the detailed general arrangement rather than infer that every cabin shown in marketing material is available simultaneously. Space taken by a fifth stateroom may change other features. Crew accommodation, laundry, equipment storage and the privacy of guest corridors also deserve attention, especially if the yacht will undertake longer itineraries rather than short summer weekends.

A specification designed for versatile cruising

The English-language Sunseeker specification lists a length of 26.17 metres, a beam of 6.56 metres, a draft of approximately 1.88 metres and an estimated displacement of 79,900 kilograms. Fuel capacity is given as 8,500 litres, with 1,700 litres of fresh water. The company describes shaft-drive propulsion with MAN engine options and a maximum speed of up to 25 knots, with a published range of approximately 900 nautical miles at 10–12 knots.

Those figures are design specifications and can change with final equipment and loading. The range should not be read as a guarantee in adverse weather or when the engines and generators are running outside the assumed profile. Owners who intend to cross exposed waters should understand the reserves built into the published figure and assess the comfort and stability of the vessel at realistic cruising speeds.

What an enclosed flybridge changes operationally

A fully enclosed upper helm can offer advantages in cold conditions and bad weather, but it also creates different demands for ventilation, visibility and climate control. Large windows require appropriate treatments for glare and solar gain, while the position of stairs affects how the crew moves to the main deck and exterior work areas. An enclosed lounge adds useful living volume but must not compromise emergency routes or bridge ergonomics.

For families who prefer extended shoulder-season cruising, the ability to remain comfortable while looking out over the route can have greater day-to-day value than another sunpad. Nevertheless, outdoor access remains important for line handling, anchoring and the crew's response to changing conditions. The quality of the yacht will lie in how well the upper deck connects these operational and recreational requirements.

Sunseeker's wider Ocean strategy

The 86 Ocean Enclosed joins an Ocean range intended to offer broader internal space, practical cruising capability and strong visual connections with the water. Under the company's renewed 2026 branding, Ocean has been positioned around exploration and freedom, while the much larger Superyacht category concentrates more heavily on individual design. The 86 Ocean Enclosed therefore occupies a different commercial position from Sunseeker's proposed 45M platform.

Sunseeker's long-standing experience in production motor yachts can support established systems integration and service arrangements, but a buyer still needs to examine the actual specification of the yacht being ordered. A familiar brand badge does not replace an independent survey, a realistic commissioning process or a clear warranty structure. Local dealer and yard support become increasingly important as a vessel spends more time away from its home port.

The model will be judged on real-world use

The current announcement establishes a new layout concept and the principal published characteristics. It is not evidence of completed sea trials for the first yacht in the series, and owners should avoid treating marketing renderings as photographs of a delivered hull. The next useful information will concern the actual build, detailed fit-out choices and measured performance across a range of conditions.

For SYG readers, the 86 Ocean Enclosed illustrates a segment of the 24-metre-plus market where better use of space and protected accommodation may matter more than a longer overall length. Its potential appeal is a more comfortable all-season environment for private cruising, provided the yard converts the generous concept into a technically coherent and maintainable yacht.
