Superyacht Summit Türkiye Highlights Yacht Law and Hybrid Innovation in Latest Insight Series

Superyacht Summit Türkiye has used its latest Industry Insight Series to focus on two subjects becoming increasingly important across the yachting sector: the legal frameworks surrounding yacht ownership and the technologies driving more efficient next-generation builds. The latest selection brings together commentary from Efe Ülken, founder of Ülken Law Firm, with a closer look at the newly launched GX42 by GX Superyachts, built in collaboration with SES Yachts in Türkiye.

The pairing places two very different parts of the industry alongside one another. Ownership structures determine how a yacht is held, protected and operated across jurisdictions, while propulsion and energy systems increasingly determine how efficiently and quietly the asset itself can be used.

Ownership structures move into the spotlight

Built with SES Yachts in Türkiye, the 42-metre project brings together hybrid propulsion, integrated solar generation and battery-based energy management within a yacht designed around lower generator dependence.

The significance of the GX42 in this context is broader than the launch itself. GX Superyachts has positioned the project around the idea that reducing fuel use and generator operation can also improve the experience on board by cutting noise, vibration and exhaust while the yacht is at anchor.

Official GX material describes hybrid propulsion and extensive solar generation as central to the brand’s approach, with the GX range extending beyond the first 42-metre yacht. The first GX42 is also due to appear at the Monaco Yacht Show from 23 to 26 September 2026, giving the market a chance to examine the technology as a completed yacht rather than only as a design proposition.

Türkiye connects the legal and technical discussions

Both subjects also reinforce Türkiye’s increasingly broad role within the superyacht sector. The legal discussion comes from an Istanbul-based practice working across international yacht matters, while the GX42 gives the technology discussion a physical link to Turkish yacht construction through SES Yachts.
