The launch took place on 31 August 2026, with the owner, his family and team, Tankoa personnel and partner companies attending the ceremony before the yacht was christened and celebrated at the yard.
The TX450 was conceived to remain below 500GT while delivering the volume, living areas and distribution of space normally associated with a substantially larger yacht. Tankoa says the owner had owned several yachts before commissioning the project, giving the design team an unusually specific starting point and helping push the yacht away from a standard platform solution toward a genuinely bespoke 45-metre design.
Keeping a 45-metre yacht below the 500GT threshold while seeking the spatial qualities of a larger vessel creates a demanding design exercise because every major area competes for enclosed volume. On TX450, the owner's priorities were therefore not simply about adding accommodation, but about how living areas, circulation and onboard functions could be distributed within a tightly controlled gross-tonnage envelope.
That brief helps explain why Tankoa describes TX450 as 100% custom rather than as another member of the existing T450 series. The yard says the yacht evolved in line with the T450 model but ultimately became an entirely new vessel, sharing only the same designer with its predecessor, a distinction that positions TX450 as an individual project rather than a variation created through cosmetic or layout changes.
The project was developed jointly by the owner and Cassetta Yacht Designers, which is responsible for both exterior and interior design. Giving the same studio control of the yacht's external profile and internal spaces provides a single design thread across the project, while the owner's direct involvement meant the arrangement could be shaped around personal operating experience rather than a speculative market brief.
Tankoa's description of the project places particular emphasis on volume, living areas and the distribution of space, so the design challenge was as much architectural as stylistic. A sub-500GT yacht has less freedom to absorb inefficient circulation or oversized technical zones, making the relationship between exterior form and interior planning especially important when the objective is to create the impression and utility of a larger vessel.
Naval architecture is by NAMES by Francesco Rogantin, while engineering is by InNave in cooperation with Tankoa's technical department. The split of responsibilities brings specialist naval architecture and engineering teams into a project whose custom character required the technical package to follow the owner's brief rather than forcing the brief into an existing production framework.
That technical collaboration is particularly relevant on a yacht where gross tonnage is a defining constraint because structure, machinery, tankage and service spaces all influence the usable volume available to the owner and guests. The TX450 therefore represents a balance between design ambition and naval-architectural discipline, with the sub-500GT target shaping decisions that are less visible than the finished exterior but fundamental to the yacht's overall concept.
Tankoa's decision to distinguish TX450 from the T450 is one of the more significant details in the launch announcement. Although the project began from the broad context of the T450 model, the yard says it evolved into an entirely new yacht and is fully custom, reinforcing the idea that Tankoa used an established size category as a starting reference rather than treating the owner as a customer for a predetermined series yacht.
That approach also reflects the role of experienced owners in custom yacht development, where previous ownership can translate into detailed expectations about circulation, privacy, entertaining, crew operation and the practical use of exterior and interior spaces. Tankoa has not presented TX450 as an exercise in adding features for their own sake; instead, the yard's account centres on translating a clearly defined owner brief into a 45-metre yacht while preserving the project's sub-500GT objective.
The Genoa launch marks an important construction milestone for Tankoa and demonstrates the degree to which TX450 has moved beyond its original T450 reference. For the builder, the yacht is notable not because it extends an existing model with a different décor package, but because the starting concept was allowed to evolve until the finished project became a separate fully custom vessel shaped around the owner's requirements.
