Varador 2000 is using Monaco Yacht Show to present its sponsorship of Dakar rider Josep Pedró, linking superyacht refit preparation with Original by Motul.
Varador 2000 Shipyard & Marina Barcelona is using the Monaco Yacht Show 2026 to take its refit brand well beyond the waterfront, presenting its sponsorship of Catalan Dakar rider Josep Pedró on the road to the 2027 rally. The company is backing Pedró in the Original by Motul motorcycle category, where competitors race without conventional assistance and must manage repairs and problems themselves.
The Monaco presentation is scheduled for 24 September under the theme “From Shipyard to Dakar: Varador 2000’s Road to 2027 with Josep Pedró.” The show describes the partnership as a link between two very different environments—sea and desert—built around preparation, technical self-reliance and the ability to keep operating when outside support is limited. Varador 2000 is using that contrast to explain the working values behind the sponsorship rather than presenting the Dakar connection as a simple logo-placement exercise.
Varador 2000’s core business is not motorsport. The family-run company has operated north of Barcelona since 1984 and combines superyacht repair and refit work with marina services, giving the Dakar sponsorship value only if the connection to its marine work is clear rather than treated as a generic branding exercise.
The company’s argument is that the most important work happens before the difficult moment arrives. A yacht heading back to sea after a refit and a rider entering an unassisted Dakar stage depend on preparation, inspection, fault prevention and the ability to solve technical problems under pressure, even though the equipment and operating environments are entirely different.
The Original by Motul category is specifically built around a higher level of rider self-sufficiency than conventional supported rally entries. Pedró will have to manage the demands of the event without the normal mechanical assistance structure, making preparation and personal technical competence unusually visible parts of the competition.
That is the element Varador 2000 is choosing to associate with its own technical identity. Rather than presenting the sponsorship purely through speed or spectacle, the Monaco discussion is positioned around resilience, maintenance discipline and the practical decisions that determine whether complex equipment keeps working when conditions become difficult.
The presentation places the Dakar programme directly in front of the yachting audience at Monaco instead of leaving it as a separate motorsport campaign. Varador 2000 is exhibiting as a refit shipyard and marina group, while the show lists its facilities and services for large yachts alongside the sponsorship announcement.
Mataró Marina Barcelona, managed by the group, serves superyachts on the northern Barcelona coast, while the Arenys de Mar shipyard provides a technical base for repair and refit. The company’s current material highlights project management, mechanical and structural work, finishing, marina services and a range of certifications covering quality, environmental management and safety.
The sponsorship also gives Varador 2000 a narrative that can continue after Monaco rather than ending with a single show announcement. Pedró’s preparation, testing and eventual 2027 Dakar entry give the company recurring opportunities to connect engineering discipline and endurance with its own shipyard work.
For the superyacht sector, the interest is less in the race result than in how a technical marine company is choosing to communicate its identity. By aligning itself with an unsupported endurance category, Varador 2000 is making preparedness and problem-solving—not simply luxury or scale—the qualities it wants owners, captains and managers to associate with its refit business.
