Yacht Refit Asia has shifted its head office to Singapore while retaining its Thailand base and working on 76m and 33m yacht coating projects in Singapore and Vietnam.

Singapore becomes the operational centre

Yacht Refit Asia has transferred its head-office function to Singapore while retaining its working base at Ocean Marina in Thailand. The announcement, reported by Asia-Pacific Boating on 21 October, places the company closer to a large-scale paint programme underway at ST Engineering Marine and to owners seeking specialist refit work across Southeast Asia. The newly named head-office entity is Yacht Refit Asia Pte Ltd.

The move is a shift in business organisation rather than a claim that the Thai facility has closed. Superyacht Painters, the group's UK sister company, confirms that the Ocean Marina operation at Na Jomtien remains a regional branch, with teams also working on projects in Vietnam. Singapore now serves as the administrative centre for coordinating those assignments and additional work.

A 76-metre yacht under cover

The centrepiece of the company's Singapore work is an unnamed superyacht of approximately 76 metres undergoing a substantial exterior coatings programme at the ST Engineering Marine facility on Benoi Road. The scope described by the contractor includes hull blasting, full fairing, a new Awlgrip finish and superstructure repairs and repainting. The yacht's name has not been disclosed, so assigning an identity would be speculative.

Asia-Pacific Boating reports that the vessel's delivery from the project is scheduled for April 2027. That is a stated programme date, not a confirmed completion, and coating projects of this scale can be affected by preparation findings, access, environmental conditions and other yard work. The contractor describes the facility's covered shed as important to controlling paint application on a large hull.

Vietnam programme adds another scale

A second active assignment involves a 33-metre yacht under construction in Vietnam, where the company says it is providing full fairing and a complete Alexseal paint system. Its own project notes identify the 189 Shipyard at Haiphong as the location for the first of three 33-metre newbuild coating programmes. The firm has not named the vessel or disclosed the value of the coating contract.

The Singapore and Vietnam jobs illustrate two different parts of the regional market: restoring or completing the finish on a substantial existing yacht and specifying coatings for a newbuild. Both require carefully sequenced substrate preparation, fairing and application, although the scope is different from project to project. Neither announcement establishes the final cost or quality of the finished work before delivery.

How the companies fit together

Yacht Refit Asia supplies project management and a wider refit offering, while its UK sister company Superyacht Painters focuses on painting, fairing and related composite work. According to their published material, the group has experience with Awlgrip, Alexseal, International and Jotun coating systems. Those brand references describe systems the contractor uses, not endorsements or independent performance ratings.

The Singapore address published for Yacht Refit Asia Pte Ltd is New Bridge Centre, 336 Smith Street, while the major yard assignment is taking place elsewhere at Benoi Road. Owners and captains should distinguish the administrative office from the physical worksite when discussing a survey or arranging project access. The company says it has been listed as a main contractor for yacht refit work at ST Engineering Marine since August 2026.

Why surface preparation matters

A yacht's final gloss depends heavily on the surfaces beneath the topcoat, particularly across the long, uninterrupted sides of a superyacht. Fairing is intended to correct the geometry and finish of those surfaces before primers and topcoats are applied. The company's description of its Singapore programme makes that preparatory phase central, rather than presenting painting as a simple cosmetic last step.

Humidity, surface temperature and cure times are important constraints in tropical locations, where work performed too quickly can leave defects that become visible later. The contractor says its procedure includes recording ambient conditions and hardness tests, and stopping paint application when specified humidity thresholds are reached. These are the company's stated working practices; individual contract standards and survey findings still need verification.

A record of regional assignments

Asia-Pacific Boating identifies previous work on the 55-metre AZAMANTA in Singapore, the 41-metre VICTON at Ocean Marina and the 40.8-metre Benetti KAHALA in Singapore. The magazine also refers to earlier exterior painting on the 40.2-metre Benetti ASIAN POSEIDON. These examples help explain why the business is building a multi-location operation rather than working from a single marina.

Those historical references should not be confused with announcements that the named yachts are now in refit. The new October development is the Singapore head-office move, alongside the active 76-metre and 33-metre assignments. The company's broader project record provides context for its capability claims but does not independently prove the results of projects still underway.

Implications for captains and managers

For a captain planning a refit, a regional network may offer more flexibility over where an inspection starts, where a vessel is lifted and where the main coating work can be performed. Singapore's industrial shipyard infrastructure can be useful for a large yacht, whereas a Thai marina base may serve different cruising and maintenance requirements. Actual berth access, yard availability and permits must be confirmed for each vessel.

The company also promotes digital project reporting that can provide owners and managers with progress photographs, application records and documents while they are away from the yard. Such visibility can improve communication, but an online dashboard is no substitute for a defined specification, independent survey where appropriate or clear contractual acceptance criteria. Project-specific detail remains essential for any owner considering the services.

What remains to be established

The October announcement does not provide a revenue forecast, staff-count change or investment figure for the Singapore headquarters. It also does not identify the 76-metre yacht or announce completion of the Vietnam newbuild's coatings. Until those details are published, the defensible development is the organisational move and the project activity expressly confirmed by the company and trade press.

Yacht Refit Asia's Singapore-led model will ultimately be judged by delivery quality, schedule management and the ability to service yachts across borders. For the wider superyacht sector, the announcement is another example of specialist suppliers aligning office locations with large-yacht refit and newbuild work in Asia. The next meaningful milestone will be evidence of completed projects rather than the headquarters change alone.
