The 2005 Ocean Alexander JUSMAD, with a 2023 interior refit and three guest cabins, is due for a 5 November no-reserve sale at Boathouse Auctions.

The 80-foot Ocean Alexander motor yacht JUSMAD is scheduled for a no-reserve auction on 5 November 2026, with Boathouse Auctions indicating expected opening bids of about $600,000 against an advertised $1.99 million asking figure. The 2005-built vessel was updated extensively inside in 2023 and is expected to be displayed during the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.

JUSMAD measures approximately 24.4 metres, placing her just inside the Superyacht Guide coverage threshold. The organiser's expected opening level is not a completed sale or a fixed transaction value, and the auction's eight percent buyer's premium needs to be accounted for alongside any successful bid.

Extended from the Ocean Alexander 78 design

JUSMAD was reportedly lengthened from the original Ocean Alexander 78 model during construction, resulting in a final overall length of 80 feet. The extra space contributes to the yacht's aft guest areas and equipment arrangements while maintaining the character of a relatively compact long-range motor yacht.

Overall length can influence the choice of marina berth, but a serious buyer must also examine beam, draft, handling characteristics and hull condition. The boat's specifications should be confirmed against registry papers and actual measurements where the intended cruising area imposes restrictions.

Three en-suite cabins for six

The accommodation comprises a full-beam master with king-size berth and separate bathroom spaces, a forward VIP with queen bed and a third cabin with twin beds. Each guest cabin has its own bathroom, allowing a family group or several couples a degree of privacy on longer voyages.

The published interiors include elaborate cherry joinery originally specified as a significant construction upgrade. Such finishes can make the living areas appealing, but hidden wiring, ventilation and plumbing still need technical inspection irrespective of the decorative presentation.

What the 2023 refit achieved

The owner reports a significant interior programme in 2023 led by Yacht Interiors by Shelley, including replaced upholstery, carpets, galley equipment and granite counters. Work also extended to selected air-conditioning equipment, toilets, entertainment systems, electric blinds and washing facilities.

A broad refit list does not demonstrate that all propulsion and shipboard components were replaced. Purchasers should ask for invoices, the full service history and recent survey findings to distinguish the newer installations from older equipment requiring continued attention.

An enclosed upper lounge and helm

An enclosed skylounge provides a second gathering area and offers views from the elevated driving station without relying on an exposed flybridge. The listing describes a convertible table within this upper room, giving the space additional flexibility for seating and occasional sleeping arrangements.

The value of a second helm extends beyond design presentation because visibility and control ergonomics affect operations. Navigational equipment, wipers, controls and sightlines should be tested both in a berth and at sea rather than assessed solely from listing photographs.

Twin MTU power and thrusters

The yacht has twin MTU diesel engines rated at 1,500 horsepower each in the published specification, supported by bow and stern thrusters and a remote manoeuvring system. Such equipment can make docking less demanding when properly serviced and handled by trained crew.

Potential buyers should review engine hours, maintenance intervals, cooling and fuel systems, and the reliability of the thruster arrangements. Brochure speed or manoeuvrability claims are not independent evidence of current performance, making a sea trial and engineering checks especially valuable.

A significant davit upgrade

The aft lido deck has space for guests and for stowing a tender. According to the sale organiser, a Steelhead lifting davit was upgraded from 1,500 to 3,000 pounds of capacity to support a 17-foot Walker Bay tender arrangement.

The listing explicitly states that the Walker Bay tender is not included in the auction package. Owners should therefore allow for separate tender costs and establish that any craft they choose is compatible with the davit's rated load, lifting geometry and safe-operation procedures.

Fort Lauderdale viewing opportunities

Boathouse Auctions says JUSMAD will be on display during the 2026 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, before the scheduled 5 November sale. A defined viewing period can allow bidders to examine the main accommodation and some technical areas before deciding how much they are willing to offer.

Attendance at the show should be paired with a careful look at the full specifications and auction terms. Independent advisers may be needed to review vessel title, insurance implications, mechanical condition and required deposit arrangements before a bidder accepts contractual obligations.

No-reserve auction with a published premium

The platform identifies a $1.99 million advertised asking figure and expects bidding to begin around $600,000. A no-reserve sale is intended to determine a market outcome through the auction process; the anticipated starting amount should never be reported as the actual value paid.

Boathouse Auctions also specifies an eight percent buyer's premium and separate transaction rules. Until results are confirmed after 5 November, the reportable event is simply the forthcoming sale of a 24.4-metre Ocean Alexander with a known refit history and original official photographs.
