Alltek Marine is taking its B620 and B650 AIS Class B transponder families to IBEX. Yacht captains and integrators have two different transmission approaches to assess.
Alltek Marine Electronics is showing new B620 and B650 Class B transponders at IBEX in Tampa on 6–8 October. The update concerns vessel-identification equipment, not a new yacht or navigation regulation.
The B620 is a 2W CSTDMA family, whereas the B650 uses 5W SOTDMA transmission. Owners and bridge contractors should compare the specific reporting requirements before selecting a model.
The supplier lists different connectivity and configuration options across the two families. A superyacht specification should therefore name the exact model, data interfaces and antenna arrangement instead of a generic product family.
AIS contributes to situational awareness in busy waters, but it cannot replace lookout or collision-avoidance judgement. Installation and approval questions remain specific to the vessel and the flag.
Alltek identifies booth 3-338 for its October presentation. The display gives purchasing teams a chance to question integration and support before specifying the equipment.
