Damen Yachting has sold an Amels 80 known as Project Apex for delivery in spring 2029. The buyer is entering yacht ownership for the first time and was represented by Boatsters Black and Bjorn International Brokerage.
The sale adds another hull to a platform that has become increasingly important to the Amels Limited Editions strategy. The 80-metre series combines a developed technical foundation with substantial scope for owner-specific interiors and detailing.
Representatives for the owner said the selection process placed particular emphasis on the shipyard, build programme and confidence around delivery. For a first yacht, those factors can carry unusual weight because the owner has no previous new-build experience to use as a benchmark.
Damen Yachting argues that the Limited Editions model reduces some of that uncertainty. Core engineering is developed in advance, while the owner can still shape the yacht’s interior identity and selected exterior details.
Project Apex extends the Amels 80 delivery pipeline into 2029. That gives the builder stronger forward visibility while also demonstrating that demand for very large semi-custom yachts remains active several years ahead of completion.
The sale also illustrates how first-time owners are entering the market at considerable scale. Choosing an 80-metre platform as a first yacht places particular importance on crew planning, operational support and the shipyard’s ability to guide the owner through a complex build.
