Baltic Yachts' 43.3-metre CANOVA is marketed by Edmiston for €29.8 million with a Dynamic Stability System foil, diesel-electric power and global cruising history.

Baltic's 43-metre cruiser enters the sales conversation

CANOVA, the 43.3-metre sailing yacht delivered by Baltic Yachts in 2019, is being offered by Edmiston at an asking price of €29.8 million excluding VAT. Built for an experienced owner, she is presented as a technically advanced bluewater cruiser with a distinctive emphasis on efficient sailing and comfortable long passages. The listing identifies accommodation for eight guests in four cabins and a crew complement of eight.

The yacht's sailing and engineering decisions make her particularly interesting within the sub-50-metre segment. Her public specification records a carbon-fibre hull and superstructure, and an award at the 2020 World Superyacht Awards is cited in the broker's account. Those credentials should not be confused with a substitute for condition checks, but they help explain why CANOVA stands apart from more conventional cruising yachts in the current brokerage catalogue.

A stability foil and diesel-electric operation

Farr Yacht Design handled the naval architecture and Micheletti+Partners is credited with the exterior and interior design. The most distinctive technical feature is the Dynamic Stability System foil fitted to improve righting performance and reduce heel while sailing. Edmiston notes that the application of this technology at CANOVA's scale represented a significant step beyond its better-known use on smaller yachts.

The propulsion installation is described as diesel-electric, with power management designed to reduce noise and vibration in appropriate operating modes. The broker advertises up to 20 hours of battery-supported silent operation under suitable circumstances; that figure warrants confirmation against the current state of the batteries and actual hotel loads. A buyer interested in the quieter cruising proposition should request independent electrical and power-management assessments, not merely review a brochure figure.

Interiors designed for voyages

CANOVA's open, light-filled salon and sheltered cockpit create a direct relationship between guests and the sailing environment. Accommodation includes an expansive owner's apartment and three additional guest cabins. The available description places emphasis on intelligent use of volume and an interior that supports life aboard during longer passages rather than only weekend entertaining at anchor.

Below-deck storage and handling of tenders is an important part of the design. The broker lists a seven-metre HTM tender and a smaller 4.6-metre AerMarine crew RIB, with purpose-built garages. A setup of this kind reduces clutter on the open deck, although the mechanics of launching and recovering the craft should be examined in working conditions and in a range of likely sea states.

Evidence of long-distance use

Edmiston says CANOVA has travelled more than 75,000 nautical miles with her current owner. That number is consistent with the marketing description of a yacht conceived for extended international cruising, but the voyage record also makes a comprehensive maintenance history especially valuable. High mileage is not inherently a disadvantage when equipment has been inspected and serviced systematically.

The €29.8 million asking price positions CANOVA as an unusual opportunity for a purchaser prioritising contemporary sailing systems. Interest is likely to turn on the actual performance of the stability foil, propulsion plant, rig and handling arrangements, as well as the hull's inspection history. The published listing provides an ambitious technical narrative; detailed surveys and trials will determine how well that narrative translates into future ownership.
