Boat Builder Awards 2026 Opens Nominations Under Industrial Pulse Theme

The 2026 IBI Metstrade Boat Builder Awards opened nominations under the theme 'The Industrial Pulse', placing greater emphasis on the people, technology and industrial capability behind yacht construction. The awards recognise boat builders, superyacht yards, allied trades and individuals whose work is often less visible than the yachts themselves.

Looking behind the finished yacht

The programme is intended to highlight the engineering, manufacturing, design and organisational achievements that happen before a yacht reaches the water. Organisers said the 2026 theme reflects the combination of specialist trades, technology and leadership required to turn a design into a completed vessel.

Entries to the global competition are free, with categories covering both company and individual achievement. The format gives shipyards and suppliers a route to recognise production improvements, collaboration, innovation and professional contributions that may not otherwise generate standalone public attention.

Awards return to Metstrade

The shortlisted companies and individuals are scheduled to be recognised during an awards dinner on 18 November at Restaurant Harbour 8 during Metstrade 2026. The location places the ceremony directly within the RAI Amsterdam complex and close to the main exhibition halls.

For the superyacht industry, the awards provide a useful counterpoint to launch and delivery coverage because they focus on how yachts are actually produced. That includes the industrial systems, specialist expertise and people whose work determines build quality long before an owner sees the finished vessel.
