Computer Network Defence received British Marine's first national Product or Service award for Osprey, a maritime cybersecurity appliance.
British Marine has named Computer Network Defence Ltd the Product or Service of the Year winner at its inaugural National Awards, presented during an industry dinner in Southampton on 21 September 2026. The company was recognised for Osprey, a purpose-built maritime cybersecurity platform intended for the practical constraints of onboard networks.
The official results were published the following day and name three national category winners drawn from a wider association-led judging process. This security result matters to yachts because digital equipment, connected bridge systems and guest networks increasingly need management even when crew cannot rely on continuous shoreside connectivity.
British Marine describes Osprey as a compact appliance combining enterprise-grade protection, remote monitoring and straightforward installation for vessels with limited space or onboard cybersecurity expertise. The award recognises the product's approach, rather than guaranteeing that every network configuration or installation will be secure.
For yacht operators, equipment selection still needs to reflect the actual inventory of networked devices, configuration, crew procedures and supplier responsibilities. A cybersecurity tool forms part of a broader operating plan, not a substitute for maintenance, access controls and response arrangements.
Rockley Watersports received Business of the Year, with judges recognising 50 years of development and work to broaden access to watersports. BlueTree Boatbuilders won the Sustainability Award for Project Harmony, a timber-built leisure-craft initiative using circular-design principles and electric propulsion.
The different winners show the breadth of the UK marine supply chain, from participation and skills to engineering and technology. The announcement should not be read as a product-comparison test between unrelated equipment categories.
British Marine says the programme began through its 11 member associations, with entrants progressing from sector-level voting into national judging. Thirty-three sector winners reached the final stage, where independent judging teams selected the three overall category recipients.
The inaugural awards give industry professionals a useful shortlist of particular businesses and projects to examine more closely. Superyacht technology buyers should still review specifications and independent suitability for their own vessel rather than treating an award as procurement approval.
