Cannes 2026 has brought together more than 680 exhibitors and over 700 boats. Verified early outcomes include pre-sold launch models, a deep brokerage fleet and innovation awards, while a final show sales tally is not yet available.

The Cannes Yachting Festival 2026 is still underway, so any assessment of its commercial outcome has to separate confirmed facts from the optimism that surrounds a major boat show. The event runs from 8 to 13 September across the Vieux Port and Port Canto. The official festival website is advertising more than 680 exhibitors and more than 710 boats and yachts, while its pre-show release described more than 700 boats, around 150 world premieres and an expected international attendance of about 56,000 visitors.

Those numbers make Cannes one of Europe’s largest concentrations of new yachts, brokerage inventory, equipment suppliers and prospective buyers. They do not, however, tell us how many yachts have actually been sold during the week. No official audited 2026 sales total has been published, and the show has not yet closed, so the useful question is what commercial evidence is already verifiable.

More than 680 exhibitors and more than 700 boats

The scale of the event is the first market signal. Cannes says more than 680 exhibitors are participating across the two harbours, presenting more than 700 boats from roughly 5 to 50 metres. The live website has since moved its headline fleet figure above 710 boats and yachts, reflecting the fluid exhibitor and vessel lists around opening week.

For the superyacht sector, the most relevant figure is the concentration of larger yachts. The organiser said the Yacht Brokerage area at Port Canto would contain more than 45 yachts over 25 metres, while the Vieux Port is dedicated to powered craft and currently promotes more than 350 boats from 12 to 45 metres. Port Canto also carries 120 new sailing monohulls and multihulls.

That breadth turns Cannes into a comparison market rather than simply a launch event. Owners can move between new production yachts, semi-custom platforms, older brokerage vessels, sailing yachts, catamarans and technical suppliers in a single week, giving builders and brokers unusually direct competition for the same buyer.

World premieres remain the show’s commercial engine

The organiser expected roughly 150 world premieres for 2026, which explains why shipyards continue to use Cannes as the opening commercial platform for the Mediterranean autumn season. Owners arrive expecting to see yachts that have not previously been available for public inspection, creating an opportunity to turn private discussions into firm build decisions.

Ferretti Group says it brought 22 yachts to Cannes and used the event for several major premieres across its brands. Azimut Yachts is presenting several major debuts, while Princess Yachts is using Cannes for the global premiere of the X90 and Sirena for the world debut of its 118 flagship. The commercial value is not simply publicity; it is the chance to put owners aboard a new model while the design is still fresh and build slots remain available.

The strongest sales signals are pre-sold launch models

The clearest verified commercial evidence so far comes from yachts that arrived in Cannes with orders already secured. Sanlorenzo says the first five units of its new 25.5-metre SHE had been secured by owners before the yacht’s first public presentation. That does not mean five yachts were sold on the show floor, but it does show that the model reached Cannes with an established order base.

Next Yacht Group reports a similar result for the Maiora M|30, saying four units had already been sold ahead of the model’s official unveiling at Cannes. Again, these are not four transactions completed during the festival. They are orders attached to a product being publicly launched there, showing how Cannes often serves as the reveal point for programmes that have already been selling privately.

Sanlorenzo Executive Chairman Massimo Perotti said the company’s ambition is to keep evolving with discipline, while the yard linked the SHE premiere to sustained demand and commercial strength. Next Yacht Group described Cannes as a strategic milestone in its expansion and noted that it has entered the Global Order Book for the first time. Both messages use order confidence as part of the launch story.

The brokerage fleet shows how much choice buyers have

Brokerage works differently. A used yacht may be brought to Cannes because a buyer needs to inspect it, compare condition and layout, and meet the broker before surveys or negotiations begin. The organiser’s figure of more than 45 brokerage yachts over 25 metres therefore matters even if the eventual sale is announced weeks after the event.

Fraser lists yachts including the 46-metre Sanlorenzo PICK UP, 36-metre Permare ARSANA, 34-metre McMullen & Wing EP!PHANY, 34-metre Sanlorenzo NAYA 7 and 31-metre Cerri Cantieri Navali VANADIS. Northrop & Johnson is also using the South of France shows to present a broad sale fleet. The benefit for buyers is the ability to compare asking prices, age, design and build quality without arranging separate trips to multiple marinas.

This also explains why counting only deals announced before the show closes can understate its commercial impact. A viewing in Cannes may trigger surveys, negotiations and contracts that are completed later in September or October, but the transaction can still be traced back to the show as the point where a buyer physically inspected the yacht.

There is no defensible final 2026 sales total yet

This is where boat-show reporting can become misleading. The Cannes Yachting Festival does not currently publish a live audited tally of yachts sold during the 2026 event, and many builders and brokers do not announce individual contracts immediately. Deposits may depend on technical specifications, trade-ins, surveys, finance or final legal documentation.

There is therefore no sound basis at this stage for claiming that a particular number or value of yachts has been sold “at Cannes 2026”. The confirmed evidence is narrower: five Sanlorenzo SHE units and four Maiora M|30 units were already secured before their public Cannes presentations, while the show is hosting a large brokerage fleet and extensive new-build inventory. Any additional sales should be attributed only when the companies involved confirm them.

Previous editions show that direct sales can occur at Cannes. The organiser itself promotes earlier exhibitor success stories in which manufacturers reported strong order intake and dealers sold multiple yachts during the show. Those examples demonstrate the event’s commercial potential, but they are not evidence for an unconfirmed 2026 total.

Innovation awards are another measurable outcome

One result already delivered during the 2026 festival is the Innovation Route Awards. The festival says five winners were announced on 9 September. SEA.AI’s Watchkeeper system won the navigation-experience category, the MODX 70 was recognised for sustainable and responsible technology, Millikan Boats’ M.10 won for alternative propulsion or energy, and the VAAN R5 was selected for a low-impact process or product.

The jury’s special award went to Benetti’s B.Yond 37M. These awards are not equivalent to signed yacht contracts, but they show which technologies are attracting attention inside the show. Collision avoidance, renewable energy, electric-solar propulsion and recyclable construction are increasingly part of the buyer conversation rather than side issues.

Cannes director Constance Brément has described the festival as a strategic partner and growth engine for the international boating sector, pointing to the quality of the offer, exhibitor commitment and the flow of qualified visitors from around the world. That emphasis on qualified visitors is important: for high-value yachts, the identity and intent of the people on the pontoons can matter more than raw footfall.

What Cannes 2026 says about the yacht market

The most useful interim conclusion is that the market visible in Cannes is selective rather than inactive. Builders are still committing heavily to world premieres, and some new models are arriving with several units already ordered. At the same time, buyers have a wide field of competing new-build programmes and brokerage yachts, increasing pressure on sellers to justify price, specification, delivery timing and operating efficiency.

The presence of more than 680 exhibitors also shows that the commercial ecosystem around the yacht matters as much as the hull itself. Equipment manufacturers, marinas, propulsion suppliers, designers, electronics companies, service providers and brokers are competing for the same owner relationships, so decisions made at Cannes can extend well beyond the initial yacht purchase.

The final scorecard must wait until after 13 September

Cannes 2026 is already producing measurable outcomes in product launches, confirmed pre-sold models, brokerage viewings, innovation awards and market positioning. With more than 680 exhibitors, more than 700 boats, around 150 world premieres and over 45 brokerage yachts above 25 metres expected at Port Canto, the event remains one of the most commercially important gatherings of the year.

What cannot yet be claimed is a final attendance figure, a verified total value of yachts sold or a definitive count of contracts signed during the show. The festival remains open until 13 September, and transactions often become public only after lawyers, surveyors and brokers have completed work away from the pontoons. The real commercial scorecard will become clearer in the weeks after Cannes, when builders report order intake and brokers confirm which viewings converted into completed sales.
