Coastal Offshore X-Cellence is presenting the compact Gyroline GL5 at IBEX 2026, offering up to 11,700 Nm of stabilizing torque for new-build and refit applications.
Coastal Offshore X-Cellence is presenting the Gyroline GL5 gyro stabilizer at IBEX 2026, positioning the compact unit for new installations and refits where onboard space, power demand and installation access are important constraints.
The GL5 delivers up to 11,700 Nm of stabilizing torque and 4,500 Nms of angular momentum from a unit weighing 345 kg. Gyroline lists a flywheel speed of 7,500 rpm and targets vessels broadly in the 35- to 48-foot range, subject to vessel-specific assessment.
The system is designed to operate at anchor and at low speed, using the gyro’s internal flywheel and precession rather than external fins to oppose roll.
Coastal’s installation programme covers structural assessment, electrical supply, cooling, access and service clearances before a GL5 is specified for a vessel. That is particularly relevant in refits, where machinery-space dimensions and existing onboard systems can determine whether a stabilizer project is practical.
The company says the complete gyro mechanism remains inside the hull, avoiding external stabilizing fins for this type of installation.
Coastal combines gyro installation with marine electrical engineering, navigation, power systems and refit support from its Fort Lauderdale base. The company is using IBEX to present the GL5 alongside its broader integration and service capabilities.
For yacht owners and refit yards, the significance is the combination of a compact stabilizer with local engineering, commissioning and ongoing service rather than a standalone equipment sale.
