Crew Voices Opens 100 Places for Captains and Senior Crew

A new Crew Voices programme opened 100 places for captains and senior crew to participate directly in strategic discussions around The Superyacht Forum and Metstrade 2026. The scheme is intended to increase the influence of onboard operational experience in industry debates that can otherwise be dominated by shore-based organisations.

Bringing operational experience into the room

Crew Voices grew from the Superyacht Alliance's 'Bridge Between' think-tank initiative, which brought together organisations including SYBAss, ICOMIA, MYBA, PYA, IYBA and IAMI. The underlying argument is that captains and senior crew deal every day with the practical consequences of yacht design, regulation, maintenance, safety and owner expectations.

The organisers said that this experience is often underrepresented in panels, workshops and industry decision-making. Giving experienced crew a stronger voice is therefore intended to connect policy and innovation more closely with what actually works aboard operational yachts.

100 places across the November programme

The programme was launched around the two-day Superyacht Forum on 16–17 November and Metstrade on 17–19 November in Amsterdam. Applications were offered free of charge, with 100 places made available to qualifying captains and senior crew.

The initiative fits a broader shift towards involving operators earlier when the superyacht sector discusses technology, training, infrastructure and professional standards. For builders, suppliers and service businesses, direct crew feedback can provide a practical test of ideas before they become embedded in products or procedures.
