Feadship has collaborated with Assouline on a new book released within the publisher’s Ultimate Collection series. The volume draws on material from Feadship’s private archives to document the people, processes and design culture behind the Dutch custom-yacht brand.
The publication reaches back through a shipbuilding heritage dating to 1849 and the formal use of the Feadship name from 1949. Rather than focus solely on famous yachts, the project is structured around the way the organisation has worked across several generations.
Feadship has traditionally maintained a relatively discreet public profile despite building some of the world’s most recognisable yachts. Opening archive material allows the company to explain how concepts move from early sketches through engineering, construction and final delivery.
That process is central to the brand because Feadship does not operate around a fixed production range. Each project begins as an individual commission, making working methods and institutional knowledge as important as any single model or hull.
The Assouline collaboration gives owners, designers and enthusiasts a curated view of material that has largely remained inside the company. It also places yacht building alongside architecture, fashion, travel and other subjects documented through Assouline’s large-format collector editions.
For Feadship, the project is both historical and contemporary. Recording how earlier yachts were conceived creates context for the engineering and design decisions still shaping new custom projects today.
