Garmin Expands JL Audio M-Series with M200 Marine Speakers and Subwoofer

Garmin has introduced the JL Audio M200 marine speaker and subwoofer range, expanding its JL Audio Marine portfolio with new equipment intended for exposed onboard environments. The range includes 6.5-inch and 7.7-inch speakers together with a 10-inch subwoofer, giving installers several sizes for different yacht entertainment zones.

The products combine marine-grade construction with integrated RGB illumination, reflecting the way exterior audio and lighting systems are increasingly designed as a single visual package. On larger yachts, that approach can be useful across beach clubs, flybridges, aft decks and tender garages where hardware needs to withstand repeated exposure to sun, salt and spray.

New speaker and subwoofer sizes

The M200 speakers use a one-inch edge-driven silk-dome tweeter with a neodymium magnet and are rated for power handling of up to 60 watts RMS. Garmin says the use of standard cut-out sizes and mounting patterns is intended to make the units easier to retrofit into existing installations rather than forcing major changes to finished panels.

The 10-inch subwoofer uses an injection-moulded polypropylene cone with a rubber surround and an optimised motor system. It is rated for 250 watts RMS and is designed to add lower-frequency output without departing from the same visual family as the matching speakers.

Lighting integration through Garmin systems

RGB lighting is built into the M200 series and can be coordinated with other onboard lighting when paired with compatible Garmin Spectra or Lumishore control equipment. That enables colour and lighting effects to be managed through compatible chartplotters or the ActiveCaptain application instead of being treated as a completely separate system.

White and grey grille choices are available so the hardware can be matched more closely to surrounding joinery and deck finishes. The styling also follows other JL Audio M-series products, allowing an installer to expand or refresh an existing audio system without introducing a visibly unrelated component family.

Built for salt and sun exposure

Garmin says the M200 products use marine-grade materials, finishes and corrosion-resistant connections intended to tolerate seasonal exposure to the marine environment. For yacht projects, those details can be as important as headline sound output because exterior equipment is routinely exposed to conditions that would quickly damage domestic audio hardware.

The M200 range is available now, with US suggested retail prices running from $199.99 to $349.99 depending on the component selected. Full yacht installation costs will vary according to amplifiers, zone count, cabling, network control and the extent to which audio and lighting systems are integrated across the vessel.
