Genoa Waterfront Opens New 16,000m² Marine Refit and Service Complex

A new multi-purpose marine production and service complex has become operational at Genoa's Waterfront di Levante, bringing Genoa Sea Service, Gatti and North Sails into one shared facility. Gatti is part of Amico Marine, linking the project directly with the wider Genoa refit sector.

The Polo della Nautica combines covered workshops, technical quays, a haul-out basin and a 140-tonne travel lift. Its backers say the new infrastructure expands the range and size of yachts that can be handled within this part of the Port of Genoa.

Sixteen thousand square metres ashore

The facility covers 16,000 square metres of landside area, including a two-level industrial building with 6,200 square metres of covered space. Genoa Sea Service and Gatti operate on the ground floor, while North Sails occupies the upper level as the site's sailmaking operation.

Bringing the three businesses into one complex creates a shared industrial base while allowing each company to retain its own identity. The arrangement is intended to make complementary repair, refit and sailmaking capabilities easier to access from the same waterfront location.

140-tonne travel lift expands haul-out capability

The new infrastructure includes around 1,000 square metres of equipped quay, a dedicated launch-and-recovery basin and a 140-tonne travel lift. There are also 5,300 square metres of water area and 356 linear metres of technical quays.

Genoa Sea Service says the improved layout allows it to work on larger sailing and motor yachts than before. Its core refit and maintenance range is described as approximately 15 to 30 metres, alongside long-standing work on tenders serving larger superyachts.

Gatti strengthens Amico Marine's mid-size offer

Amico Marine participates through Gatti, which it acquired in 2024 as part of an effort to broaden its refit offering into medium-size yachts. The new site gives Gatti modern covered work areas, workshops and improved haul-out infrastructure while keeping it within the Genoa waterfront cluster.

The project therefore complements rather than replaces the larger-yacht capability elsewhere in the Amico network. It creates a dedicated platform for yachts and tenders that sit below the largest superyacht-refit projects but still require specialist marine trades and organised yard support.

Further quay investment is planned

Gatti says future investment includes electrification of the technical quays and additional improvements to the available berthing infrastructure. North Sails also gains a more visible base close to the marine service area and direct access to customers operating from the waterfront.

For Genoa, the Polo della Nautica adds another layer to a refit ecosystem that already serves some of the Mediterranean's largest yachts. The Waterfront di Levante project shows how smaller and mid-size refit, sailmaking and superyacht-tender work can be integrated alongside the city's large-yacht facilities.
